Yo everyone. So lately, i've gotten more and more into music making. And I would love to take my sh!t to the next level. I've amassed some money from my job, and would love to buy myself a solid MPC, however, I dont want to make a silly investment, and I would like to make a good decision when buying something like this.

My budget is currently about $1,000, so anything around that (or less ) would be fantastic. Would there be any MPCs you guys suggest around this price range?

I've done some research, and reviews for the Akai MPCs are pretty good, as well a some other brands, but I have some outstanding questions about MPCs in general.

For example, what is the exact process for sampling a dope bit of a record? If I have my turntable, can I hook it up to the MPC, and chop it up straight? Or do I have to go through another process?

Hey bro,

I highly recommend the akai mpc 1000. I've had it for just over 3 years now and still use it on pretty much every beat I make. The convenience of the usb allows you to easily import loops, drums etc. You can either record straight into the mpc from your turntable or just record into whatever software you may have, loop it then import in. The compact flash memory card slot allows tons of storage for all your sounds. I have just a 1 gig card and haven't needed anything bigger. 128mb ram is what you'd wana go for too. I bought mine second hand off ebay so check them out on there to save $.
