I"M OPENING THE VAULT - WHAT INSTRUMENTALS DO YOU WANTStarted 9 years ago by Thes One / toggle topic info
doin it 12" and noonen 12" both have full instrumentals for each song
i more than suggest getting the doin it 12" even if you have it on cd cus of the awesome pictures on it of thes and rashaan in matching jumpsuits and wigs! http://www.munichrecords.be/Press_Photos/Thes%20one%20&%20Raashan%20Ahmad%20-%20doin%27%20it%20-%20cover.JPG
Any of the beats on the Stepfather DVD would be dope too.
Thes would u consider: "A Little Salsa" , instrumental Home, Yield, Slow Bullet,The Next Step II,Code Check,43 Labels I Like,8 is Enuff,Outrun,LA9X,The Grind,D, and Mike and Chris Story.
here are some more ....from listening to the P on the train home...figured id post em b4 i go out for the night.
-time to rock our sh!t
-from funnier than leather (the part that has spanish samples "aint no stopin' us")--love this
from funnier than leather (the part that has spanish samples "aint no stopin' us")--love this
but i also want to see basically all of O.S.T. and Or Stay Tuned's instrumentals. 8 is enuff! Roadbeaters and Outrun!
the problem is any beat thes makes is off the f'n hooooooooook!
....too many choices
I'm at home, off from work for the day, and I'm sick as f*cking dog, so my brain ain't working right... if I do have 5 days, then I'll hold off on my opinions for a bit, and post in a few days.
Loving this instrumental vinyl idea, though. Everything that everyone's said so far sounds d*mn good to me. "Back to the Grind Again" (Bloquera), "Pulp Fiction", "The Dig", "LA Song (Sensitive)", "The Outrage", "Much Too Much", "All Good Things", "Carried Away", and "Same Beat" would be dope as h*ll.
Was "Friday Afternoon Taco Stand" any longer than just those few seconds? If so, I wanna hear all that.
I know this isn't an instrumental and COMPLETELY off topic, but it would be interesting to hear the entire "background party" tape you recorded for Fun DMC, sounds like you all had a d*mn good time, and I'd love to share the fun. "I got on my Romeos, homeboy!"
Also off topic, but I'd love to hear the genesis of the P and get a copy of the original stuff you made up at your parents' house and in SF with Smile-Oak. "Bitchkill", "The Next Step", "Day In Day Out", "Mental Battle", etc.
A studio version of 'Too close' and 'The Baron' would be awesome. 'Give it up', 'More than you know', 'Intro (from OST)'.
To be honest i'm not picky, it's just fascinating hearing how you put together a beat.
OMG Thes, this is off the hook!!! Everyone suggested most of what I love. That Mid-City Fiesta sample is finger-lickin good though. As well as Plunken em!!
i would reccommend pretty much any instrumental that isn't already a beat for a song on one of your guy's albums. Stuff like, 6th cup. I love coming up on one of your instrumentals that haven't been on a well known release. so i would reccomend just going in your vault, finding all the dope beats that haven't been used on anything, and put those out.
If you're talking about unreleased instrumentals, here's what I'd want to see:
- smoothness (like Slow Bullet or Last Xmas in San Pedro)
- horns (like Swan Fever)
- super funky beats
- crispy drums
- and maybe a go-for-broke fast one (like Much Too Much or something)
The Joyride and LA9X would be dope.
Seconding 'A Baby.' Also the beat on the Stepfather dvd where Mike is cutting up the Nonce 'if you in the city and you got it like that.'
I aint talking about the Rootdown or Back on the Block or Next Stets - they are dope but we already have the instros!
soul power said: GIVE IT UP w/ J-Live instrumental.
^ please please this right here! ^
plus the beats that I always think are the deepest or that I always want to jam to (tryin not to make it a long list....) -
All the Bloquera stuff.
Down and Out
80 Blocks From Silverlake
LA Song (sensitive mix)
Jamboree Pt 1
Mid City Fiesta
Los Angeles Daze
Beaver Pt 1
Empty Bottles of Water
8 Is Enuff
More Than You Know
I would definetely love to see Tales Of Kidd Drunkadelic instrumental, and especially love to see the little interlude between Tales of Kidd Drunkadelic and Keepin' Live (possibly extended so it's a 1:30 long?) on there.
