As I was doing research on them, I found out there is a bar near me that is an Arsenal bar (http://theglobepub.com/) and they have a nice little contingent of fans here. The fans seem pretty organized and have a website (http://www.arsenalamerica.com/) with a Chicago chapter. They organize trips to games so I may be going to one in a season or two. Hopefully I can blend in with the fans here and absorb as much as I can while enjoying some beer and football. The cool thing is I'll probably buy FIFA 11 and play with them to get more familiar with the players.
How often do fans buy jerseys and customize them with their own names? Is it more common to buy your favorite player than have your name on a jersey?
Man we don't do that sh!t much up in scotland, tis too expensive, and we have short arms and long pockets... It's kind of ridiculous here, probably the same in the states, they bring out like 4 or 5 kits a year, just as a money making excercise basically. If you want to really impress, get a vintage strip. I dunno what the arsenal ones look like, but the old school celtic strips are awesome.
Fans get a new shirt probably every season... maybe just the home, or maybe the away, maybe home, away, third, goalie home, goalie away!
You can go crazy dude.
Some teams (Arsenal included) are releasing shirts which are lasting for 2 seasons these days which is cool coz a fully customised shirt will set you back about £56.
This season I didnt but a shirt tho.
I think people probably get players names more than their own names and numbers. The problem is if you get a players name make sure they aren't going to be transferred anytime soon.
If you get your own name and number it'll be unique to you and you can pretend you're a superstar down the park
You could get your nickname or your fav P track or something...
And if you get a name and number (player or your own) then make sure you get the Premiership or Champions League patches... they look PIMP!
And grown men will talk to you and stroke them.
Will we ever grow up?!!
I priced a jersey on some site that offered authentic lettering and numbering and the Premiership patch. Total was around $90, but that may be because it was last year's jersey. Not too bad considering I paid close to $160 for my authentic Cubs jersey with my own name on it and around $120 for a replica Bears jersey with my name on it. We'll see what the new jerseys cost.
I was thinking about customizing it with a P song. But if I'm paying hard earned money, I'd want my name on it lol. I saw a pic of someone with an "Obama 08" jersey.
Surely just get Esomedina in big letters!
And then your favourite 2 digit number underneath. I'd get 69, cos I'm a f*cking idiot.
For my FIFA player... not a pro one tho coz I've got an old FIFA
Even got sunglasses on to hide the red eye haha.
I'm pretty geeked about the upcoming season. Like it's a brand new, exciting, fresh experience. The draw for me is that the matches aren't too long like every other American sport.
