I had forgotten what a fiasco this pressing was with Gold Dust Media.
I would totally support a proper reissue; wonder what ya'll thought. I floated the idea already to Redef on IG.
I don't think the pressing is quite as bad as you're making it out to be...
While I'm sure we were all disappointed some tracks were missing from the vinyl, I imagine it probably would've required a 3LP to include everything without compromising the sound quality by attempting to squeeze too many songs onto 4 sides. (On the other hand I just pulled out my copy and it looking at the amount of dead wax on sides A + C it might have been possible to include 2 additional songs...)
As far as I remember Gold Dust Media are (were?) based out of Berlin and not really a particularly experienced or prolific label - their only other notable releases I can think of off the top being Large Pro's 'Main Source' LP and the DJ Muggs x Planet Asia collaboration.
It'd be interesting to know how Thes and Double ended up working with Gold Dust (I imagine there weren't too many other options as this was before the current full blown vinyl resurgence) and whether they had any say in how their music was presented in the end. Keep in mind PL70 was founded to in no small part to gain independence from other labels!
Bottom line Thes and Redef may not be in a position to make executive decisions regarding Fun DMC (or other albums from the back catalogue for that matter) because of existing contracts and licensing agreements with GDM. I honestly haven't the slightest idea about the specifics such paperwork entails, but as a rule of thumb I think artists effecitvely sign away their rights and ability to exercise control over their music to a large degree.
Also, as much as I'd like to see those missing tracks get the vinyl treatment some day I think there's still plenty of music that's never been heard or has yet to see a proper (vinyl) release that ought to be prioritized over reissues: Wonderful Radio, TGOS#3, Double K's SP1200 project, American Men #2 (and 1!?!), Mikey's solo stuff, etc. etc.
