So, been listening to some Bill Withers recently and enjoying all his soulful funkiness (Harlem is a absolutely outstanding track) and discussing with my dad about how they "don't make music like this anymore" when he told me to give aloe blacc a try, so i borrowed his 2010 album "good things" and gave it a listen... and you know what, it was pretty damn good! I know its a bit old, but its good to see some quality music (IMHO) making the crossover to the mainstream. What y'all think?Yeah, this has been one of my favourites for some time now, particularly love 'Green Lights', such a feel good song, & obviously 'I Need A Dollar' was impossible to ignore, (my daughter thinks its funny that i own something the kids at school are into!)
Incidentally Leon Michaels who produced this is involved with a number of other soul singers, using the same band, including Lee Fields. Worth checking out if your on that vibe. -

I also bumped into Don't Do It the other day. It was one of the key joints that introduced me to the Redefinition Records family a while ago. Today it epitomizes the feel of the Redef sound to me and it's still just the illest ish ever, simple and plain. Props for posting, peace!
