Didn't know this thread existed, but you can bet I'll be in here all season.
Soccer is my favorite sport and I'm a diehard fan, following a team in every league.
My teams are :
Manchester United and the Seattle Sounders but I do follow Barcelona, Roma, and Bayern Munchen in their respective leagues.
First I'll say my allegiance with Manchester United started around 92-93 when Giggs was young and we had Cole and Cantona causing havoc. I was in the third grade and they used to play the games on Fox Sports South when there weren't any other sports on. My best friends older brother was a huge fan of Man U and played competitive soccer. When I would go over to their house I would sit in his bro's room, covered in Giggs and Man U posters and watch goal highlights before playing in the backyard. Flash forward to present day and we have had some crazy seasons lately.
I miss the 07-08 season when we had Tevez, Ronaldo, and Rooney all linking up, that will always be a year I will never forget, especially closing the year wining the league and the champs league against Chelsea in a stunner.
This year United look alright, we looked amazing in the pre season and have been playing pretty well so far. The game against Everton still has me scratching my head, how does a team with an amazing defense give up 2 goals in the final 2 minutes of the match?!! I'm glad we got a victory against Liverpool to actually pull up our spirits. I believe this is Berbatov's year to step out and shine. I think he's finally finding a way to link up with Nani, Fletcher, and Scholes, providing the team with chemistry. I'm just really bummed Rooney is having such a tough summer and year, I hope he wakes up and gets back in on the goal scoring, If that happens I don't see Chelsea beating us, the Community Shield being further proof.
I do play espn fantasy and the official premier league fantasy if anyone wants to join my league let me know and I can add you in.
I may pledge my allegiance to United but I must admit I do enjoy watching Arsenal play. I knew Chamakh would have a great year, I followed him when he played at Bordeaux, and I'm stoked on him as he's on my fantasy team. I also LOVE Arshavin. He's hands down my favorite player when he isn't lazy, want to see an amazing feat? Watch him put up 4 against Liverpool awhile back and you'l love his style.
Did anyone see today's Carling Cup matches? I must say Newcastle is my fav promoted team, knocking Chelsea out today and playing United pretty well at the beginning of the season has made me cheer for them a little bit. I HATE Chelsea with a passion so anyone who plays well against them has my seal of approval. I do respect Drogba though, he's an amazing athlete.
