I just got a copy of QITFOAA on wax and a copy of Next Step should reach me in the next few days (both were bought off of Discogs.com). I was wondering if anybody knew how to tell if the copies were original or reissue...? The copy of QITFOAA I got today is really actually in great shape, like NM+, so that got me wondering.....thanks in advance for any advice or info......can't wait to get off work this morning and burn one while listening to "Crazy Live".....-greg
How to tell if you have an original copy or a reissue of QITFOAA and Next Step??

We had a whole thread about the og pressing of Question a while back:
Anything with white (instead of golden/yellow) labels is definitely a repress, too.

Hmm....I'm pretty sure the runout grooves discussed in the thread match mine....I'll have to verify when I get home.....we'll see. I should get the copy of "The Next Step" in the next day or so....

Looks like you're good. The 1's after the respective sides look a bit like commas to me...

What about the differences between the original and repress of The Next Step CD? Discogs doesn't really provide much distinguishing characteristics.
The OG beedie-filled spine is the one part I know about.

discogs can be a great resource, but since it depends on user submissions and oversight one should generally not expect too much and be prepared to occasionally take what info there is with a grain of salt. Just sayin'.
I don't imagine chances of finding CD copies with the beedie still hidden in the spine will be too great anymore after all these years, but admittedly I'm no expert on CDs (or beedies for that matter
)...

Truth! I don't know much about beedies either. Moreso asking in case an og press crops up (with the beedie or not), I'd know how to spot/validate it as I'd be interested in adding it to the collection. Also, I figured if anybody knew, that person would probably hang here.

The OG ones were made by Thes/KK themselves and had a very limited number (200 maybe?). I have one copy Thes sent to me but otherwise I'd imagine these are near impossible to find. The second pressing was once they were signed to Om Records, so will have the Om label info on the CD.
Thes said to me once the two editions have a slightly different mix, although I've never been able to pick up the differences myself. Some subtle mastering differences maybe...
