wow what a good article! Beastie boys were never a group i listened to much, but ive always had a lot of respect for them and their passion. Especially after reading this makes me have a whole other type of respect. No selling out for them!

Nice article.

The Beastie Boys were the only hip-hop group remaining signed to a major label without ever selling out, ever. It means that they did not allow the culture vultures to feed off them. They never succumbed to the pop-rap trends that have come and gone, unlike so many others who have fallen off. They always stayed true to themselves.

The gist of it is, Adam Yauch has posthumeously stated in his will that his music or face cannot ever be used for the purpose of advertising, thus keeping his "integrity" of not selling out. I personally applaude this (although i still dont understand the concept of "selling out" at what point do you "sell out", but prehaps thats another thread) and see it as yet another thing that the great adam yauch will be remembered for.

Whats everyone elses thoughts?
