Got this in the email today from Piecelock 70 - cool! New debut album from forum member Galkin (Gitar / DJ Alibi)

The debut slacker/psych/dream-pop LP “Chagrin Seasons” by Mikhail Galkin incorporates various influences, everything from Soviet cartoon soundtracks, Cuban guitarists (the last track especially owes to Manuel Galban) 90’s east coast rap (the album features an ode to The Beatnuts) to Georgian church choirs and Randy Newman.

Personally, the track Waiting In The Wings really hits home and was an instant favorite. Even better, look out for some insane instrumental work by Mikhail on the forthcoming Gettin' Off Stage 2 EP!

dope man awesome. I help with a few friends on a local radio station with a weekly show. Dr Rish played out some of the Gitar stuff couple months ago. Hoping to get involved bit more once I wrap up my exams, do few more mixes etc... 8)

Ever since Active Cultures, I've been enjoying everything (Gitar & solo) he's been putting out. Got a really unique sound to it, and it's good to vibe to at work, on the bus, etc.

Did you get one? They're still available at hhv.de if anybody needs a copy (everybody needs a copy!) In fact, following a major faux pas the LP has been available through hhv.de since December 2013. They already had the records and a miscommunication led to them being on sale half a year prior to its release date. I pointed it out to the band and hhv.de at the time but I think they never took it off the site. Anyway, I have been playing it a lot and it's still a favorite! As usual with PL70 the packaging (especially the vinyl!) is top-notch.
