I really dig the intro of Gate City Saving And Loan on the CD version. On the LP, it starts where the beat comes in instead of the weather sounds and chimes and what not....I guess to fit the album on 2LP and not push it into 3 was the reason its cut from the LP version (probably would have been more expensive to produce). The CD version is a really cool way to start off the album...very relaxing.....g

I found the cd at amoebas a while back and just picked it up assuming it would be good. It was great, very subtle and understated. I can just let it play in my car and not even realize that I've listened to it 5 times thru. I'd love to find the vinyl somewhere.

the wax version is great because it actually has snippet intros of the original tracks before each of Thes' beats, so puts them into a bit more context than the separated CD version. Good listen. Gotta find a copy Sac!

I've got this on CD, and I've got the 10" Target/Grain Belt Beer wax, but I'm still missing the album on wax... one-a these days...

I have a few of the tracks from here on constant rotation on my iPod headphones tho (Headnodic's bass work in Crystal Sugar is niiiiiice...)

And I still think Target Corp. could benefit by using "Target" in their TV commercials... juss sayin.

...just listened to this again & it really is a f***ing beauty.

If there's any new cats out there who haven't heard it yet give it a go...you'll be surprised. Don't think it's like 12SP, because it couldn't be any more different.

Just to clarify this isn't my first listen in two years...that would be complete madness.

Just been listening again tonight whilst enjoying an ale (of course).

It really is quality stuff...and although it's difficult to pick a favourite, 'Northwestern Bell 2' is standing out for me.

Im only missing the we"ll be there 10 second remix, back on the block la get down mix, face to face, holiday beat tape 2009, and the tuxedo rap dj mekalek party mix(instrumental and vocal), and Mithai. Not to mention I'm missing most of them on vinyl, but I'm working on that! I love the P instrumentals
edit: I know Mithai wasn't exactly an instrumental album, and that the promise was the only true Thes beat in there, but I still search for it and must count it with the list of missing P tracks. Shouldn't have slept on it so long while it was on PL70. :-|
also, its not exactly an instrumental track, but the tuxedo rap extended disco mix from the single is mostly just an instrumental added to the end of tuxedo rap, so that could kind of count in the instrumental list...

haha very true, and Im right there with ya. I need to start a savings fund just for the upcoming one! And Im sure Thes has included everything he meant to, and anything left out will be released in the future or just wasn't meant to hear. Although going through the collection, theres about six albums that haven't had a dedicated instruments release, outside of singles, not to mention some of the songs from the question and stepfather albums didn't make the instrumental releases. Im so excited to hear the 10 years collection though!

Because it would be 10 times too much! haha Not sayin' that I wouldn't pay any ridiculous amount for super-rare P Instrumentals on wax though!
