Cheers man...definatly agree with you for that lo-fi effect, one of my favorite things about PUTS and similar music....just that warm oldschool sound to it!! Anyways thanks guys, you've been really helpful...any more recommendations would be most appritiated....!!

oh.. you were asking what kind of sampler!..haha musta spaced a minute there!...all that weed....
but yeah i guess it all depends..i mean there are so many samplers on the market...plus the way you can mix and match via MIDI..i'd say check out http://www.sonicstate.com....or at least do a google search with (your mpc of choice here) and sonicstate. This should bring up reviews from users of that particular equipment. I myself use an mpc 60 cuz it has a badass sequencer and i like the lo-fi hard hittin' drums it brings...I sync it up with my S1100 which i use for my main samples...i like the sound cuz it adds a lil "warm fluttery" character to them (especially when sampled in at a lower bit rate..)
Alot of the older samplers are pretty cheap too..but have their limitations...(although they sound alot better than the newer stuff IMO)...but if you want anything like that, i suggest you jump on it ASAP..people are starting to catch on.!!..

MPC 60 and S1100

Yeah, it's probably alot cheaper to go the software route..although in my opinion, it sounds kinda "thin" compared to hardware....but just starting out, should definitely check out FL studio, or Guru (very cheap, but one of the best!)..also make sure to get a decent audio Interface and an akai MPD16 to bust out beats MPC style! I started out using MOdplug tracker (which is free by the way, but not as "fancy" as newer DAW's) and i learned alot by using that...basically, it's just about your level of determination...work hard and good things will come....

yeah, i've been usin fruity loops for about a year now, i'm gonna be getting hardware here pretty soon, there's only so much you can do with software, but it's a pretty powerful program it just takes patience. You can still use with your hardware, basic mixing stuff. It's hella expensive tho, if you need it i can help you (hint: PM me)

if you're just getting started, it's a good idea to learn software, then move on to some hardware. ive been trying to master fruity loops for about two years now cause i dont really have cash to spend on hardware. it's a good start just to familiarize yourself with production terms and sh!t.

Use whatever you're most comfortable with, but if you don't know what that is, then you might have to go out and try some new stuff. I use a combination of hardware and software and it works well for me.

I've been using my mates equipment and wack programs on my computer to sample beats but I'm able to finance my own equipment now. I've got a couple of crates of Lp's but need a sampler and some decks to start creating some magic ..... you guys got any recomendations....?
