Ha ha the Ion! That was the first set up I had, it wore out so quick! There was really bad static on the fader from deck right to left, and due to the way I scratch I had to swap the channel inputs over and use the mixer upside down!

I know you've probably got something sorted by now - as the OP was in May - but basically get something better. Those shits are just toys. I'm not saying necessarily splash out thousands on top shelf stuff, but elevate to match your own skills.

I used the Ions till they wore out and then got one of the Stanton DJ Lab 3 sets. I kept intentionally buying these lower priced units as a) I was skint, and b) I was always the type of kid to want after something for ages then never f***ing use it. Fortunately, this wasn't the case here!

I wore out my Stanton mixer the other week (at a show, luckily it held out until the very end!) and am on my way to pick up a nice Vestax PMC 07 mixer this afternoon!

jay said: Ok well ive had one of these for quite awhile because i want to start mixing but when i take the crossfader across from channel 1 to channel 2 it doesnt work.Any ideas why this is happening. It may be quite an amateur question but we all start somewhere right? Any way your help would be appreciated. Oh and if they dont work i was gona splash some money on technics. What's the best out there say for about 700 pounds? Cheers

Have you tried switching over the turntables to make sure they're producing a sound from the RCA's?

Make sure you haven't connected the turntable to the Line in, and you've put the input switch to phono.

Another problem could be with the crossfader, stuff like ION is cheap for a reason, if you spend something like a £100 maybe less, you can get hold of a good stable mixer like the Vestax PMC-05. That will keep you going even when you have more experience:

Test those items out above, also it might be worth checking channel 2 using a 3.5mm to RCA cable and plug your ipod/mp3 just to check the channel isn't broken.
