Thes explains the origins of his name in the lecture on Sactown's site from the U of Oregon. I highly recommend reading the whole lecture as it is a brilliant lecture on Hip Hop philosophy and history, focusing on gear history, but near the end he takes questions and that is one of them. It boils down to him wanting to use big words, got called a "little thesaurus", dropped the end, and added the "one" because some tagger in L.A. also went by Thes and was getting his ass beat, so Thes would say "No, I'm Thes ONE... kick that other dudes ass"
