Shoulda posted on this one earlier...

I don't think I could ever give up meat... I mean, if it wasn't available anymore, I wouldn't have a cow about it (no pun intended), but I'm a creature of convenience, no willpower, and i'm a slave to my tastebuds/stomach... and that sh*t tastes goooooooood.

thankfully, i stay away from beef/pork a lot, but chicken? Oh, h*ll no... giving that up just won't happen.

I'm a chicken strip fanatic actually... Ask my fiancee or my parents what food I eat a lot of, and they'll answer you without hesitation. I'd prefer the whole meat ones, and not the nuggets that have been processed and glued back together...

but all that being said, I can still eat a nice salad or some zucchini or eggplant or something.

anyone here ever tried to substitute a balsamic-marinated portabello mushroom for a hamburger patty before? It's really good. Try it some time.

I also make a avocado-tomatillo salsa that'll knock your head off.

You want to see what the supermarkets are doing to the farmers because of the legislation goverments are putting in place, like i said, my granfather was a farmer, he retierd about 10 years ago, i dont know how big exactly his farm was but thay had some livestock and some employees, just before the tipping point came. but before that, he used to work hard and earned a decent wage then the supermarkets buyers started coming round and bullying him into reducing his prices or refusing to pay the full ammount, they brought legal representation and everything, what was my grandfather to do, he was a farmer, not a city boy, so he jus gave up n sold up shop. I live at home so the shopping aint really my concern, but i knoww where possible we buy local and my grandfather now has a allotment so grows all the veg for us. good meat is expensive though so i can see why a supermarket is the choice for some people.

Im personally sick of this goverment, im sick of the way they treat people and the world, im seriously tempted to go as under the radar as i can, stop drinking booze and smoking should stop em getting some of my tax, i dont drive so they cant have tax off me from there.

BRING THE REVOLUTION! lol. <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":-D" class="bb_smilies" /> I wish.

Interesting point Yoyo...

I think everything, not just the food market but most industries need to be brought down a peg or two and people need to support their local providers.

We need to have stronger communities and desicions need to be made that enforce this.
Local suppliers, better community spirit, governments making decisions for the greater good of local communities.

f*** these fat cats in london lobbying for money to bring in laws and legislation that will get corporations more money while strangling the local traders.

It is so messed up that these MP's would do that, they dont give a sh!t about us and the general public stays unaware and even if they are aware they think they can't touch these people in power!

They are just humans like me and you, dont forget that.

The time for change has come.

More & more youngsters like me, thinking the same way ( the ones who care that is)
But unfortunately it's true, the world right now as we know it, is a very sad, sad place.

Word YoYo, I am right there with you on the supporting local farmers tip... It's oh so important that we, as a world society, don't rely to heavily on a handful of suppliers. There are countless advantages to supporting your local grow-op.

On a side note but on the food convo, I feel more than the meat vs. veg issue there is a greater issue at hand: Processed foods. They are the cheapest, most readily available food source there is & they are by far the worst foods for you. I'd say that if you cut just that part of the food chain out of your diet you are truly pure/natural/organic.

Its weird, i do eat meat (even thought lately i have been getting grossed out by it) but i genuinly love animals THAT much i want to work on not eating them. I dont care if people eat meat because thats their choice, everyones different but for me personally, it really is not that healthy for you and you can get the vitamins you need from other things other than meat. I hope that one day i can eliminate it all, chicken is my only struggle

That is the same reason i consider vegetarianism occasionally. I really do love the taste of meat, but it conflicts with my respect for all life. big fish eats little fish i guess. thats just the way the world works.

I think you have to strongly think about how much meat you eat on an ethical basis ? and I?m not even talking about feeling bad for the animals ? I?m talking about saving the planet. The idea that everyone has a ?right? to eat whatever meat they want, whenever they want and for as cheap as possible is a massive factor in our production of carbon emissions and the increase in global warming.

Some people bitch and moan about how a meal isn?t ?proper? unless it has some meat in it. Well that?s madness. Deal with your conscience after we?re all dead.

And I?m not even veggie, but eating as local and organic as possible is the way forward. Damn hard though! Change the system (never gonna happen, we're all doomed)
