Well I got my copy today, and it's definitely a grower, with a serious amount to take in on a few listens. I know it's a creative choice but the album could still really do with some DYNAMICS though.

The LP art is pretty cool as well. Nice glossy gatefold with cosmic nonsense scribbling on the inside!

Anyone else got a copy yet?

It's definitely different, bigger, more ambitious. I think it works. We'll see after some repeated listens.

I though 1983 was pretty cool although nothing special, but I felt the Reset EP and LA albums and EPs were amazing.

This new album is a bit of a disappointment so far. Everything just seems too busy, too squashed, and I think the mixing is way off.

A lot of people seem to be hyping this album way more than LA for some reason though? It's clearly a massive leap (forward?), but I think whilst it's more impressive it isn't nearly as listenable.

I know what you mean Mambo, he's not for everybody, I feel like if you feel FlyLo you really feel him. I don't know anyone that kinda likes him, they either love him or hate him, more or less.

Cheers Xcell, those two fly lo songs (the J dilla 1 was dope. ) sound almost perfect, but if he jus left the F""kin volume knob alone and stoped fading in and out (which is what it sounds like 2 me) then i probs would buy the album, but that glitchy noise gets on my nerves, maybe its just me and in time i would come round to it (hell, im listning to the dopest hip hop around and i cant live without the P, when five years ago i wouldnt go anywhere near hip hop at all) so maybe i will change as i get older, but right now, it just dont do it 4 me.

Gas Lamp Killer BTW is DA BOMB! So much enthusiasm...

Personally, I love Flylo and his wonderful ilk: Gaslamp killer, Nosaj Thing, SamiAm, free the robots and all those 'experimental hip hop' producers.

Mambo, the sound that you are refering to is 'glitch'. Where the rhythm seems a bit 'off'. To a lot of people that makes it hard to listen to. I've been checkin out this new flylo album, and I really like it so far.

cheers trench, im not the biggest fly lo fan tho, i appreciate the talent and effort that goes into it, but it jus dont feel right, the only way to explain is from the songs ive heard, its not really got a steady rhythm? sounds a bit choppy? if im wrong please educate me, and post me some links but its the vibe i get from it.

I do have to say tho, i heard him live in Sonar in 2008 and i thought he sounded really good, but when i you tubed him wen i got home i felt how i said, so maybe hes better live IMO or maybe it was the "sun" and it enhanced the music. lol.
