YoYoPo!!! just ordered that Run the jewlels II vinyl. I have brought blind (as in haven't heard a tune offit). Loads of people seem to buzing about it so worth a pop. as soon as lands will let you know what I think

I listened to hundreds of albums this year, but some favorites of mine would have to be

PUTS- 12 Step Program (Wasn't even a member of these boards or anything, and I loved it so much I decided to join. Plus, it got me back into all of their old albums, and reinvigorated my love for them too.)

uMaNg- The Black Rose Certificate (Super gritty East-Coast influenced boom bap. Raw delivery, knocking beats.)

String Theory- String Theory (Overly lyrical, but still really solid hip-hop.)

The Doppelgangaz- Peace Kehd (Slightly cloudy/trap sounding on a few songs, but the majority is just some smooth goodness.)

Ras G- Raw Fruit Vol. 3 (Super raw instrumental hip-hop. And a few great guest verses. Good god, man.

Flying Lotus- Better Off Dead (Just all around awesome.)

new albums what I listened to this year, in order of preference!

Taylor McFerrin - legend Bobby's son debut album lovely
Fatima - Swedish/UK singer over Floating Points beats
Gitar - only got this recently (thanks Twelve!) but really enjoyable
Fatima Al Qadiri - a different Fatima! Chinese/Grime dark beats. Dope concept album
FKA Twigs - atmospheric electronic quirky singer. Liked a lot but maybe suffers on repeat listens / radio overplay
Flying Lotus - good album but as expected
Mo Kolours - Brixton reggae funk jammin
Cibo Matto - finally a new album from Japanese duo, came out start of the year. Not bad!

... anyone check the Run The Jewels II album? interested to hear thoughts. Full on hip hop, what I heard sounded good but wondering how long it'll last!

Forgot one, not sure where it would go but the interrupters might have to get bumped, or I could just make it a Top 7 list: St. Paul & The Broken Bones - Half The City.
Great new Southern soul band. The lead singer has a set of pipes on him that you have to hear to believe. That dude can f***ing sing! Saw them at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in SF this year and they were great live.

I have to admit, a slow year on new music albums for me but here we go…

PUTS – 12 Step Program. Instant classic and still on rotation

NehrivianDOOM - Sound Of The Son. Was worried the length would annoy me but the album plays perfectly. Love it

AOTP - In Death Reborn.
AOTP – Heavy Lies The Crown. Love both of these albums. I know not everyone’s cup of cha’, but hella dope (and our man SF Knight fu**in brings it on his tunes)

Ghostface Killah – 36 seasons. Read mixed reviews, but bambino brought me & can’t stop playing. Great beats, love the story & some great lyrics)

Gitar - Active Cultures. Beautiful piece of vinyl and my summer evening soundtrack

Everyone I know is on that Freddie Gibbs/Madlib. Going to be a purchase this month I think

There's 6 because I couldn't decide on 5. Besides, 5 is arbitrary anyway.

Top 6 Of 2014:
1. People Under The Stairs - 12 Step Program. (Obviously).
2. Swingin' Utters - Fistful Of Hollow. (Punk rock legends do punk songs mixed with country-blues. How could you go wrong?)
3. NehrivianDOOM - Sound Of The Son. (Can't get enough of this album, I don't care how short it is.)
4. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - (Cocaine) Piñata. (Madlib kills it once again. He would've gotten my vote for best album of 2013 for Yessir, Whatever.)
5. Christopher Owens - A New Testament. (2nd solo album by the former lead singer of Girls does a country-gospel album about love and atheism. Did I mention he grew up in a cult?)
6. The Interrupters - The Interrupters. (Quick-paced ska-punk album featuring blistering vocals by Aimee Allen (aka Aimee Interrupter), produced and co-written by my favorite artist ever, the illustrious Tim Armstrong. Try Family.)

Honorable Mention (releases that weren't technically albums but were still great)(In no particular order):
1. Dante Elephante - The German Aquatics EP. (New indie-surf rock band out of Santa Barbara. Highly recommend checking them out. And is it just me, or do they have the best band name ever?)
2. Curren$y - The Drive-In Theatre Mixtape. (Super chill beats with Godfather quotes mixed in. Enough said. Try Vintage Vineyard, $ Migraine, E.T., and M.P.R.)
3. Jonwayne - Cassette On Vinyl. (Collection of tracks from his Cassette 1-3 mixtape series. He's probably my favorite lyricist right now. And this release has my favorite Jonwayne track Passing Fancies.)
