The only thing I thought might be midly interesting about this was the booklet. I'd imagine most folks already have 'Endtroducing' and probably 'Excessive Ephemera' as well, so why pay 100 bones for new packaging that doesn't even look particularly nice and a remix album that strikes me as aiming for maximum crossover appeal? (TBH I don't even know who some of those guys are, but the idea of Adrian Younge messing around with any part of this musical masterpiece alone made me throw up in my mouth a little.)

I agree with Twelve about Krush. I've got all his LPs and there's always some good stuff on...but yes, a few rascals on 'Butterfly Effect'!

As I said before, it's completely understandable that he's moved on to a different sound - I just wish there hadn't been such a distinct break from the overall feeling and aesthetic of his music beginning with 'The Outsider'. Endtroducing was incredibly deep and resonated with a lot of people on an emotional level, and personally I just don't feel any of this with the newer albums.
Krush on the other hand has stayed a lot more in the lane he's carved out for himself and I thought there were some decent tracks on last year's 'Butterfly Effect'. (Some stinkers as well, but let's not get into that...)

He has changed up a lot over the years and I think he has tried to innovate his own sound. I'm not a huge fan of his to know his whole career and I don't think there's anything on his new album which is groundbreaking but I do like the track he's done with Nils Frahm- it's almost like some of the stuff he did with Krush. Heavy beat and spaced out. And the main single he has out at the moment is mad sample usage!

I completely understand Mr. Davis having to move on and do something different, I think most fans weren't particularly happy with the new sound however. (I've read some really bad things about his live shows in the last couple of years as well.)
I know it might sound silly, but I've found myself wondering whether it might've made sense for him to do a complete collaborative record with some other artist to keep him "grounded" and reign in some of the ideas that stray too far from the sound that we, the fans, loved? The live projects with Cut Chemist were all good as far as I can remember and the behind the scenes footage clearly showed them building off each other's ideas...

I take it this was a bit of an impulse buy (fueled by fond memories of his works from the Endtroducing era)? Had you been keeping up with what Shadow's been doing in "recent" years at all..?

Aye, an impulse buy and I should have known better. I haven't touched anything he's done since The Private Press, and although that's no Endtroducing, it has its moments.

I should have listened to a few tracks/snippets which is what I normally do. Still, I've got TGOS2 landing any day now so all is well...
