What's up, y'all? Hey, boombip, sorry I didn't get back to you on that email; I've been out sick from work the past two days (head cold)!

My wife's family all live farther down near Osaka/Kyoto, so they were all good (although my mother-in-law had a heckuva time trying to get in touch with everyone Japan-side; the whole country's phone system is off-the-hook, I'm sure). I'm just stunned by what's happened. That whole place is a mess right now. My thoughts go out to everyone over there. If there's been millions of dollars of damage over here in Cali alone, I can only imagine what it's gonna take to rebuild for people in Sendai.

Not to get too political, y'all, but it's times like this that just get me p*ssed at the people (in the US, particularly) that act like they "earned" their money, so they shouldn't have to give it to the have-nots... like there is some big conspiracy going on with everyone who doesn't have money to just take everyone's sh*t. This Japan thing is gonna take a large effort to get people back on their feet again, and it wasn't lazyness that led to their situation, it was a f*ckin' EARTHQUAKE (natural disasters, just like the hurricanes in New Orleans). People that got money... get off your a**: now's the time to give it! One love, people.

I have some friends here who have family near Sendai. I haven't heard from my friends yet.
Yup, they're evacuating people all along the coast it seems. 8.9 seems to be the largest earthquake we've had in this young century according to http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/

you from Cali? yea, we are VERY lucky in the aspect that we dont get this crazy weather.. no tornados, earthquakes happen but not as frequently or as bad on the rhicter scale, no tsunamis.. but they are evacuating people in Santa cruz, SLO, humbolt.. etc.. Even though nothing THAT bad will happen here, its good to be safe than sorry because you cannot predict nature!
