For me, their music is really hit and miss. I do like the two songs linked in this thread.

However, they are also doing a show on Adult Swim called The Loiter Squad or some sh!t. It's a little jack-ass ish at times, but they also do some funny sketch comedy. To me, they seem like the Andy Kaufman of hip-hop.

I was speaking from a personal view for me really. I just can't get down with all the dark and political stuff... Now that doesn't mean I want some candy floss pop... more that I dont want to be reminded about all the crap that goes on in the world... I want to have fun when pumping the beats

If I listen to the political stuff it just makes me mad and makes me think too much...

I don't disagree with it, but doesn't mean I like it...
It seems just as gimmicky as some LMFAO sh!t to me, but hey if that's what the kiddies are diggin' then give 'em a shovel and let 'em at it. There's room for all types and styles, just don't try to play it off as some ground-breaking material... like your some kind of Hip Hop Kaufman comin' out of your coffin...

I flicked through the channels last night while the adverts came on during 'Escape from LA'
And I ended up on Newsnight and they were doing a piece on Odd Future.

I watched...

It said they have given over 20 albums (?!!) worth of material away for free and that they make their money from Merch.
£100 for a t-shirt... like what the dudes wearing above in Yoyo's post.
They set up a shop for like a day and sell completely overpriced merch to teens with all the same hairstyles.
The guy doing the piece asked one guy quing up why he liked 'Odd Future' he didnt really know... LOL.

The piece was trying to determine if this was the new rock and rock or something and ended the piece saying something like...

"is it just money for old rope... or should that be old dope for new bongs"

LMAO

Their music was ok but I wouldn't buy it... it seems these days people are either getting really really dark in their music/rapping or really political... I was thinking... surely they're missing the point... music should be enjoyable and FUN!!
