I'm hoping Wenger buys a CB or two. I'd really like Samba on the team and possibly getting Cahill as well. Add those two to Vermaelen, Djourou and Koscielny and the back four will be better. I'd use Samba against the "tougher" teams where Arsenal struggle and Cahill for the more finesse games of the CL. Either way, that would be a nice mix and match. The team also needs another DM, but not sure who that would be. Does Wenger make a play for Rodwell of Everton? As for Strikers, I'm not too keen on Benzema, just a gut feeling. The goalkeeper situation is pretty much solved with Szscesny being handed the gloves with his performances this season. I'd like to see Wenger make a go for Lloris but that's a pipe dream.

I'd like to see Almunia, Mannone, Squillaci, Traore, Rosicky, Denilson, Eboue, Diaby, Bendtner and Chamakh sold this summer. Possibly Arshavin, Clichy and Fabianksi sold too. Doubt it happens, but a man can dream. Those sales could bring in anywhere from 60m to 100m (pounds, not dollars). I'd to see Vela get a run in the first team. Maybe in the role Bendtner currently plays as a late game sub playing on the wings. What does your Arsenal friend think of the possible transfers?

Considering RvP didn't play solidly until January, his goal scoring run is even more impressive in my view. If only he'd stay healthy!

I'm astonished at how much information I've taken in by reading various blogs and listening to podcasts every week. I could definitely hold my own in a pub on current affairs. It's when the people would start saying "like back in the 93-94 season, blah blah blah" is when I'd just nod my head silently. I feel like I've come to live and breath football. It's a good feeling lol.

Eso,

You certainly picked a good season to start watching.
I can't believe its over now... I don't know what I'll do for the next 3 months... maybe record that mix haha.

I have enjoyed this season and it was entertaining until the very last minute.
I think its real cool how you've got into the EPL and supporting Arsenal.

Arsenal started well but after those 2 fateful weeks starting with the Carling Cup Final loss and then getting knocked out of the Champions League the players seemed to be drained mentally and physically.
Although the way Barca played with the diving and surrounding the ref is a joke and I think Arsenal were treated very unfairly.
Arsenal were winning when RVP got that 2nd joke of a yellow card.
And then they play Real Madrid and they have a player sent off... Hmm.

15th straight season getting into the Champions League... that is impressive... but you still have to qualify hehe.
But as you're seeded you should be ok.
I think City may have struggled in the Qualifying rounds.

Maybe if Arsene had brought some/more players in the transfer window things might have been different.
But you should see a few players heading for Heathrow... (Denilson at least) and an influx of players coming in... which should be interesting to see who he goes for and what positions he feels need strengthing.
Because no doubt you have your own ideas of what he should do?
New goalkeeper, new forward, new CB?
What do you think Eso?

Wilshire is a talent for Arsenal and England thats for sure but don't forget Ramsey too.
He is probably just as good if not better than Wilshire (According to my Gooner mate)!
RVP when not injured or being a bit of a dick (haha grown up more now) is one of the most clinical and skillful strikers in the league.

Top 3 goalscorers in the League
Berbatov...21
Tevez.......21
RVP........18

But how many people would have mentioned him this season as having a good season or being one of the top players?

To be honest no individual had a great season as far as standing out all season, but there were some great moments from players and great team performances. Blackpool were a joy to watch and I would have liked them to stay up.

I didn't know it was Arsenals 125th year, that will be a very cool shirt to own.
Its safer getting your own name, then you dont have to worry about the player leaving.

I wasn't too happy when Tevez "handed in a transfer request" *cough*agent*cough* as I had his name and number on the home shirt!
Also when you've got the shirt on you'll find blokes will want to talk to you about football so you need to be up-to-date with all the goings on! You can't beat the banter, especially in pubs.

As far as City's season has gone.
I am very happy <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":-D" class="bb_smilies" />

Winning the FA Cup
Finishing 3rd in a automatic Champions League spot
Joe Hart winning the Golden Glove (most clean sheets)
Tevez joint top goal scorer (Golden Boot)
Outstanding performances from the majority of the players...
Kompany
Zabaleta
Yaya Toure
De Jong
Silva
Tevez
Joe Hart
To name the standout players.

And one of the best things about this season is we've reached our targets so we can carry on building instead of starting again with a new manager etc.

Now if Tevez stays it will be one hell of a season!

I really enjoyed this season.

Hope I havent gone on too much!

I was going to answer Fecam but now we've done so well I'm not too fussed about what people say haha.
All I can say is...

Loudwon,

Well, my first season following Arsenal and the EPL has come and gone. It was an exciting one! I fully enjoyed it. Although I don't have the history of supporting the club or even watching English football, it is amazing how immersed I have become in the sport. Competing at the top of the table all season was fun to watch until late February. Arsenal were simply dreadful after the Carling Cup disaster. Expectations were high but I guess there are many other teams and supporters who would trade places so I'm not going to bicker. Still made the Champion's League for the 15th straight year. The emergence of Jack Wilshere was a delight. Robin van Persie showed he is world class when not injured. Hopefully the sludge will be removed from the team this summer transfer window and more players with heart, desire and ability are brought in.

I think I'm going to buy my first shirt this summer, the 125th Anniversary edition home kit with Medina #9 on the back. What do you think? Next season I plan to venture to the pubs more to watch games with fellow supporters but still enjoyed watching matches on the PC through my streams.

What was your take on Citeh's season? The league?

Point by point..

1. I'm saying that City will mainly attract players due to the wages. Yaya Toure moved purely for financial reasons & I'm sure Silva, Milner, Viera, Barry, Balotelli, Dzeko, Adebayor, Lescott all did similar. Advised by their agents who were in for a bumper pay day. Given the choice of City or any of the teams I had mentioned where both were offering the same wages, none of them would be in a blue shirt.

2. Spurs have spent a lot on transfers. They've also recouped a fair amount - £18m for Carrick, £31m for Berbatov etc & due to the frugal nature of the chairman, have managed to stay financially stable - not spending beyond their means.

3. The Europa league is an excuse to give kids & fringe players a runout. Nobody takes it seriously & is therefore not a distraction for the first team.

4. The nature of Academy's in the UK is laughable. When you hear of the numbers of kids being signed up at ridiculous ages by the big clubs, half of them end up in lower league clubs having been released. There are a few decent Academy's - Middlesborough, Liverpool/Everton, United, Villa & I know that Spurs have invested heavily, but most clubs poach players when they turn 16. Ledley King was the last class act to emerge from Spurs - that was a decade ago!

5. "Also City do not intend to spend BIG again on the same scale as before." Seriously? I'll remind you of that in September after City have probably bought two £30m+ players on £150k+ per week..

6. Everton managed to get to the CL without spending big. Spurs did it last season without putting themselves in financial jeopardy.

Like I said, you can't hate the player - hate the game. I've no real axe to grind with City - I hope they shake up the traditional top 4 dominance, but... City, like Chelsea before them have become a billionaires plaything & nobody who loves the game can see that the owners behaviour will have any sustainable benefit to football..

Sorry Fecam that's aload of sh!t.

So you're saying that teams who aren't multi time League and European Champion won't ever get any good players... so new teams can't break through because players will stick with already well established teams? Those teams had to start somewhere.

The reason why players would come to City is that they can make City become a team like Man Utd, Liverpool or even Barca in the future.
That is what Tevez is being told, YOU can change history. Some players might enjoy the challenge of taking a team from mid table to one of the elite in Europe. Infact many of them would.

Like Harry enjoyed winning the FA Cup with Portsmouth, right before he left and took some key players with him (Crouch, Defoe).
The only reasons that the amount of money being spent by Spurs isn't being branded about is because they have an English manager.

"Tottenham spent almost £150m on transfers in the last 16 months, making them the second highest spenders in the Premier League behind Manchester City.

Spurs spent £119.3m in the year ending June 2009, with another £29.4m invested since on the likes of Peter Crouch, Sebastien Bassong and Niko Kranjcar."

That's from 2009!

We had no distractions?
Umm playing in Europe? Getting to the Final of the FA Cup while mounting a serious challenge on the top 4, which we were in for at least 95% of the season.
Not to mention that every damn week stories are coming out left right and centre about City and their players.

Money is in Football.

And if you want to knock teams for what they've achieved knock AC Milan and Real Madrid which both have political connections... which isn't allowed by FIFA... or so they say.

How else is a team going to make it to top of the Premier League and to the Champions League without spending money?
By being lucky enough to bring though 5 or 6 exceptional players from their academy like Man Utd with Giggs, Scholes, Neville borthers, Butt, Beckham?! How often does that happen...

What players have recently come through Spurs academy?

Also City do not intend to spend BIG again on the same scale as before.
Just a few key purchases.

What do you want a leauge that Man Utd win every season or how about some competition for it?

It doesn't matter how much we've spent... those 11 players out there still had to get the points, we havent actually brought these point ya know!
We've played against the same teams as everyone else.

If a buisness invested billions into its company and then was successful at their business are they cheats or something?

Every club spends large.
Just City recently are the biggest spenders... followed by Spurs.

Last season it came down to the last few games to decide Champions League football, we didnt bitch and moan about it when Spurs got it.
Now its our turn... I'm not saying that we can do as well as Spurs or even be as entertaining as Spurs but at least let us get on and play football.
