Damn! Not a lot of love for this album on the forum!

Although I respect all of your most excellent musical tastes (otherwise we wouldn't be here congregating around Thes and KK's works) I have to side with instrumentalists comment.

As for the Shadowsphere tour I saw the first date and Vancouver and thoroughly enjoyed it. Saw it again half a year later in Calgary and was not so much of a fan of that show!

Meh!

Hype Hype Hype!!

DJ Hype... the original True Player!

I haven't heard that much DJ Shadow but I feel I need to check out a lot more.
I have heard 'I've been trying' and I liked that.
But (despite not knowing much Shadow) I thought it should have sounded more beaty like not as smooth?!
Like I want to know its made by a turntablist not someone on a computer... but like I said I am not that familiar with Shadow.

But that sounds very disappointing... did you at least like the Shadowsphere?

I'm going to a club night on Saturday night like half Drum 'n Bass half Dubstep or something... I don't care for dubstep... no need to go and invent a genre for what is just abstract drum 'n bass or extended break downs of drum 'n bass and tings.
So I hope I'm not faced with the situation of half way through the night I'm not enjoying the music... havent kept up with the scene for a few years so we'll see... <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_confused.gif" title=":?" class="bb_smilies" />

Hated the music!

Hadn't checked for Shadow in a wee while, but figured that he'd at least play something that would suit my taste being we're of a similar age and have (or at least have had) similar taste in music.

It transpired that his show consisted of piss awful uptempo electronic music that seemed to be a poor tribute to Fatboy Slim & DJ Hype.

On the plus side - the music prior to the gig was great - not often you hear Raw Dop Posse - "listen to my turbo" before a show!

Brainfreeze is a cool compilation, but my favorite collab by Shadow and Chmies is Product Placement. Absolutely awesome.

Aye, 'Brainfreeze' and 'Product Placement' are classic's. The third mix with Chemist 'The Hard Sell' is ok, but nothing special for me.

I took a trip over to amsterdam earlier in the year to watch Shadow do a gig.......i am in the Saakki camp when it comes to his music and prefer is more beat/hip hop related stuff. The show was amazing though and the shadowsphere was a sight to behold. I must say i am not into his newer stuff but I've been trying is a beautiful song.

Sactown, brainfreeze is brilliant and yeah i've checked those samples.
