we cant be like people under the stairs, thats there thing and how the do. if we copy their methods all the time then it spoils it for them. although they will always be one step ahead....

theirs is nothing wrong downloading em, if your going to use them in a mix thats kool, but if your making an ep with downloaded breaks thats another story......

your right may man. but sometimes in a case like mine, i have friends who are djs and are serious break diggers, so for me to go out and get them famous breaks is no fun because theve got them and had them for ages. i want to find my own breaks. im mainly in bargin bins and charity shops to hunt out my breaks. so breaks like impeach the pres i would get from re-issues or mp3 downloads. i dont think this makes me any less of a hardcore digger

we cant be like people under the stairs, thats there thing and how the do. if we copy their methods all the time then it spoils it for them. although they will always be one step ahead....
What can you really know if you're downloading .wav files off the internet? Am I to go on another site and read up on the artist before I run the break through my MPC or Fruity Loops?

PUTS isn't the only crew that holds to that. Most credible sampling producers hold to that... Cut Chemist, Nu-Mark, youngEINSTEIN, Jake One, Jay Dee and others don't jack usenet sites to find a hot break. It's their work that fuels those websites though, interestingly enough.
It's better to find your own stuff anyway, because snatching public forum breaks only gives you the same resources as the next man. If you want a step up on the comp, you have to be out and about getting yours.

If you really want, there's a CD of 300 famous breaks used on other hip-hop records that you can buy for $30. What a bargain! All the breaks you wish you had on vinyl... all on one CD. SWEET. <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_redface.gif" title=":-//" class="bb_smilies" />

Definitely a good list, everytime I go into a shop, I'm bound to get a break.
In fact, I've got seven break records in this past week!

Pretty good for a broke negro like myself! <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_cool.gif" title="8-)" class="bb_smilies" />

If i had the right tools to utilize those breaks, i still wouldnt use them, they arent mine. I didnt find them, Nothing against it at all brother, IM having a blast listening to them as i type, But as you say, its ok to use them as long as you know where they came from, i think the only way for most of that list to know where they came from is to have the wax on deck as im not even familiar with most of those artists, and give the whole albumn a listen, then ide know what its about and all that goodness, but you know i dont have any james brown, or any hancock, or anything on that list for that matter, so in using them i would feel that ive violated the trueness behind the break.

I see where you're coming from, I'm an '83 cat who didn't break into this seriously untill '99, but since I began to apply kung-fu to this art (hard work and dedication), I found plenty of old school, middle school, and new school cats that break search for weeks like that because they didn't have the internet or have other tools the "future" has granted us.

I don't knock what you're doing, I spend as much time digging through usenet sites as I do goodwill boxes and record shops. How a person uses the applications of this art are relative to how you perceive it; but if you don't respect what the forefathers did for us, from Double Trouble to J-Live, Chi Ali and Ali Shaheed Muhammed, then you're missing a piece of the puzzle.
