I'm far from being pro Royal, but in the scheme of things, they cost a pittance and 'probably' pay for themselves.

Far bigger problems in the UK than the Royals..

I just want to say the animation is excellent and the video was really well put together :)

But I'm with Fecam here, whilst they may cost around £200 million, the tourism industry associated with Britain being traditional would certainly outweigh that initial cost.

Let's face it, if you ask most people abroad about "the Queen" they'll automatically assume Elizabeth II not the Queen of Spain or any other regent, a lot of people I've spoken to have said they've traveled to London wanting to see the traditional side that you don't get in countries like the US.

Either way when you work out the costs each of us only pay £3.74 a year to keep them there, it's not exactly burning a hole in my pocket.

Royal Family = Biggest benifit cheats! They get benifits and they earn their own money elsewhere! And as for the olympics, whats a waste of money. Not to take anything away from the athletes which i genuinley enjoy seeing perform at their peak, its just become a giant marketing thing for the large businesses.

Cool video, thanks for sharing!

Utter bullsh*t, all of it!

We're in the throes of a double-dip recession, yet we have p*ssed away £9.3 BILLION on the Olympics and who knows how much celebrating something totally obsolete and anachronistic - the Queen's jubilee. I'd rather eat a pube sandwich!

Imagine how many run-down communities in the UK could have used all this money to improve countless lives. Imagine how many more coppers we could have paid for, teachers, nurses etc. But no, we're going to throw what is essentially a three-week frat-boy party, off the back of which a few rich people will get a bit richer and a few UK businesses will do better for about a month.

Then we'll all forget about it, but we - as in the taxpayers - will be paying it off for years. Makes me wanna sh*t!

I completely agree....it's an outdated way to control people and I don't see why my taxes are being used to keep them. Let's face even if we got rid of them tomorrow the palaces and history would still b there to keep the tourists flooding in. Viva la revolution....I'm sharpening my guillotine as we speak <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":-D" class="bb_smilies" />

I got to thinking about the Queens Jubilee, and realised the royal family is pretty ridiculous in this day an age.
How a family can be born into privilege, deemed better than the public and we let it go on.
So I got off my arse, did something about it and made this-
Peace and love
