To take this thread off on a slightly different tangent, what sacrifices has everyone made in the name of 'this thing of ours'????
Has anyone ever stood in the record shop knowing that you only got enough coinage for either the slice of wax in your hand or to buy food to keep you alive for a few nights??

I've got two kids these days and I put them before anything else in life but I have to admit in all honesty that before they were around, when it came down to myself, I've stood there with a handful of cd's, red letter bills burning a hole in my pocket and the only thing in my fridge was the f***ing light and I just thought, f*** it, I'll get by on a space raider sandwich and worry about tomorrow when it comes!!!
Is it better to be hungry but with new beats or with a stocked pantry and no new music? Yeah you can always dig through the crates to rediscover old albums, it's always nice for a change, but nothing beats the feeling of travelling back from the shop on the bus reading the sleevenotes, checking who produced the tracks, reading who your favourite rapper shouts-out in his thankyous and anticipating what freshness is going to be contained within. And when you finally get home and the needle hits the groove or the laser hits the disc and the beat comes pouring out the speakers?????? There's nothing finer!

Over the years I have to admit I've got myself in some serious financial sh!t which I'm still struggling to get out of through buying music, be it in shops or loading up my cart on Sandbox, and hovering the pointer over the 'confirm order' button whilst I hastily do an erroneous currency conversion in my head (biased to my plight) thinking whether its morally right to pile more debt on the credit card before drunkenly saying 'aaah f*** it!' and clicking the mouse. It's a hedonistic, almost addictive thing I have going on but there's nothing makes me happier than the sound of drums and that's all there is to it. I wish I was more financially responsible but I'm just not.

By the way Enjoilax, your problem is a tricky one but you will have guessed by now what my opinion is gonna be. If it was me, I'd go to the show but then again my pops has never paid for my education and the P have never been round my way!
It could be worse though; he could want to go with you!!! I had a spare ticket to see the Roots last year, my dad reluctantly came along as the disgruntled designated driver and now he quotes Black Thought to me infront of my girl!!! At the end of the show he was geeking out cos he'd shook ?uestloves hand!! And now he's bugging me all the time asking when they're touring next!! And he's 50!!!

enjoilax said:
docbeezy said: dawg. That is terrible.

Your dad sacrifices money and time for you to send you to school and all he wants is some ballroom dancing sh!t out of it. Do it and be happy to do it. One day he wont be with you and you would gladly trade in everything Hip Hop related to get that one day back.

Family over PUTS.

Dude i go to a community college. Tuition is like... 3 Grand a year. I could pay for it if i got a second job. (I don't want to because i would like to take classes full time @ college, not be part time, i get insurance that way)

Also; he asks me to do things for his business, at well the most inconvient times. I'm not pissy doing them for him, but ballroom dancing... missing one day is not a big deal.

Edit - damn i do sound whiny. Whatev. I still don't think its bad to miss one day of ballroom dancing to do something i want to do.

It is still 3 grand you get and you dont have to get second job. When I started community my dad didnt give me one red cent except for books.

Until you are a father you will never truly understand your dad, and when you do understand it will change your life. Help your dad out man. Come on, who cares that PUTS is in town. PUTS is just 2 dudes that rap.

To put it like this, what are you 20? 22? Your dad has sacrificed his time, money and big parts of his LIFE for you. He did it with love and without whining about it because he loves you. Im sure you can "sacrifice" seeing PUTS without whining about it.

one day you will see.

Goddamn I'm glad to be out of my parents house...reading that story makes me think of all the blowouts we had. Sounds to me like your pops is more concerned with having the control rather than you learning a step or two. You should feel lucky that you don't have to pay for school though. I tried to pay my way through community college & the only thing I couldn't afford was the time for the classes. To work full time & go to school full time is a crux f'real, but at the same time I am who i am today because of my past experience & hardships... hope you get to see the P rock, that sh!t is worth all the rath & scorn of any man! <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":-D" class="bb_smilies" />
