That quote is from shadow and he just retweeked it to not make any sense the quote goes "diggin through piles of records won't make a bad DJ good, but it can make a good DJ better."

As far as sample ethics go I sample from records, tapes, 8 tracks, reel to
reel, vhs', dvd's and diffrent types of media (NO MP3s' OR CD's, not
organic enough). And as far as the repressed fakes go, I do own alot, but I like to use the fakes for DJing live. I like to look for records that are rare and have not been sampled (my own gems that amaze me) the reason the original 45's and lps cost so much is because they have been sampled by the likes of DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Nu mark and so on. SO GO OUT AND FIND RECORDS OR OTHER THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOU THE CHEDDER. Music is music just go find it. There are still alot of undiscoverd breaks out there.[/quote]

you could say im lazy, but i think of it as time and money.

however i am not digging right now cos i have to many records that i want to make beats from, once i get through them, then i can get back into it.

I hear ya tho.
Interesting thing happened last night. I was listening to a song that I had recorded onto my pc for listening purposes from my vinyl. I've listened to this song probably 2 dozen times, and I heard a dope loop last night..
Problem, it was .WMA format file. But I chopped the loop and threw some quick drums behind it...oh sh!t it's tuff! I'm still gonna go back and re-sample the loop because I've lost an assload of harmonics with the compressed audio. That's just me though, that's how I do it.

Yeah word up, do what you do. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I just raise my eyebrows when a cat sampling mp3's wants to tell me he's down with crate diggin or something, that's a little different issue though.

I just copped these CD's of Chinese Instruments, can't wait to hook em up on my 60!

I think anyone can do what they want.

But me, I'm a little extreme. I use loops 100% and vinyl 100%.
To be honest, I've havent even mastered this way of making beats but someday I will.
