i've been checking out ebay for a while and have found some 1200's for cheap without a cartridge and needle. would it make sense going this route? it says that they are being sold for parts because they don't have a cartridge to test them, but the motors running fine, stop/start works. i'm gonna start looking at cartridges and needles see if it's worth bothering with.

i also found this for $200, two Numark 1625 turntables, one vestax pmc-03a mixer

word !

Two good decks and a cheap 8 track or two tape recorders to get down your material, then work from there, as long as you can build your tracks you can get by with out a sampler or other equipment for a while. Then upgrade to an MPC and anything else you want to do.

Lets us know how you go bro...

The numark battle pack did me well but I had to upgrade to a better mixer. Those tables lasted me 4 years and my homie has them now and they still work great. But you can't be serious with the sh!tty mixer it comes with (playschools my first mixer ages 2 and up) so man up!, and get a decent battle mixer, that should set you back no more than $500 (total new mixer and the battle pack). Numark battle mixers aren't bad for just starting out, and those only run $100 brand new. The battlepack comes with 2 tables 2 needles and one jive ass mixer.

Happy huntin'

Oh yea dig for records till you develope arthritus, carpul tunle and a never endin' sniffle. When you hit that point dig with your teeth and plug your nose with tissues.

If you're serious about DJing and want to get into more than just mixing, I wouldnt go anything less than some technic 1200s of some sort. I've seen them used for $250. For a mixer I would suggest a vestax (around $300) mixer or something with a reliable optical fader. I started out on a DJ in box package from stanton for around $300. The tables had low torque direct drive or whatever., but it still made it hard for any sort of back cueing. The mixer's fader wore out in almost a week and a half. In the end i wish i would have put that $300 towards a good setup that will last, and hold its value. Thats just my 2 cents, though.

i've been looking around on ebay for a cheap setup, 2 tables and mixer, i'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions. i want something decent because i'll be using them for a while and i don't want to be put in a situation where i'll have to replace them soon. anything you guys could tell me would be great, maybe whatever you use to rock. i've been screwing around on my friends for ages, i jsut haven't had the money to pick them up for myself. over the past year the fines and courtfees have jsut piled up and i'm finaly through all that bullshizzle so i want to get my own with the limited cash i have left.
