i think the order was like

mpc 60
mpc 60 II
mpc 3000
mpc 2000
mpc 2000xl
mpc 4000
mpc 2000xl mcd(same as the xl just with a card reader)
mpc 1000
mpc 2500

they have the mpc 500 now too.

you can pick up MPC2000 relatively cheap and if your into production i think it's a good place to start, you can expand them with more outputs and effects too, they're not as hard to learn as most people think, get a PC or Mulitrack too and invest in a good mixing desk, the best one you can afford, doesn't have to have loads of channels can be a 4 or 8 channel to start with. over time you'll get to learn your gear and can expand it from there.

Decks is a must too, but it really all depends which direction you want to go in with your music i guess.

yeah i don't think starting straight in the deep end with an MPC is a good idea. maybe start using software so you can get yourself going. Also you don't want to just go getting any MPC, the higher number ones arent necessarily better tho someone else can probably drop the knowledge on that

get Cool Edit software
get Sound Forge software

there is so much but so little time...

First, you have to be a DJ and know about music..And different genres...espicially the history of hip hop music.

Dont waste your time buying what other people think is a beter piece of equipment in the first place...

An MPC is a must, and so is Vinyl...

Just buy it and try it...do some leg work dont just sit around and talk online about what to buy...Just go buy it...your going to be alot more satisfied...
