Thes One said: First off the homies Millhouse Scoop and Newman of GP are now holding down Friday nights at Star Shoes on Hollywood Blvd. If you are in town, it might be worth you checking it out. I hear they have been pumpin it up.
Thursday I was on my way to the Tres meeting and I was pretty early so I decided to get off the freeway and take streets through South Central to look for records at Thrift stores, etc. I do this all the time and honestly haven't found anything good since 1997 when I found a Harlem Bush Music for a buck at Queen B's thrift store.
Anyways, to my surprise, pretty much all of Vermont ave. was shut down because I guess a bunch of people got shot and they were shooting at the police or whatever, so I ended up rerouting through the cut and low and behold, I end up at a store I haven't been to in about a year. The owner has a bunch of records and even more pornography so it's mostly pretty creepy to see him selling this massive (personal) collection of used fetish porn, but he does have about 2,000 records in there. Unfortunately most of the good stuff he has I already own but it is dope to walk in to a store and see the whole James Brown catalogue ready to go. Well, I started looking through the racks and it was the same damn records as the last time I was in there a year ago. BUT... Because of the recent rains he had a small flood in the back and had to put some records in a stack on top of the racks. In one of the stacks there were 2 private press L.A. records, one from 1973 and the other from 1975, both of them south central Jazz/Funk looking in nature. 10 dollars later I was out the door trying to play it cool till I got to the car where I proceeded to scream out in Joy and ended up celebrating with a trip to Fatburger <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_cool.gif" title="8-)" class="bb_smilies" /> That hasn't happened to me in years.. I figured with a start like that, the weekend would be pumpin'!
well...
Friday night I decided to stay home and work on a beat but after a few beers I lost my attention span and just turned off the machine. Which reminds me, one of the most important things I learned as a producer was how to turn off the machine if the beat is not hittin'; Just cause you made it doesn't make it worth saving, know waht I mean? So then I went up stairs and hung out with wifey.
Saturday morning we woke up early and drove to gdam rancho cucomunga to look at pets up for adoption, then we went to burbank to go to the Boxer rescue foundation and at the end of it all, I think we decided that we don't want a dog right now. I would want an indoor dog but I don't want anything taking a dooky in the studio. That night I DJ'd a charity benefit for Jamaican medicine for all of 20 minutes, and again, lost my attention span so I passed it off to the next DJ. They had like 27 DJ's booked for the night anyways.
Sunday was family day so all in all this weekend was pretty uneventful and if you are bored reading this then I'm sorry. <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" /> Oh yea, I had to do the business taxes as well. What fun. <img src="https://www.putsonline.co.uk/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/pfunk/icon_rolleyes.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" />
The good news is the Giant Panda album is done and pretty much ready to get pressed so look out...
