What kinda amps do people own? Would an older 70's/80's amp be good enough?

ive got a 505 and ive got used to NOT pitch or tempo shifting for the same reasons you complained of - now i pitch it on the turntable (as much as a 1200 will allow) and the same for a drum break if necessary. like i said im used to it and it excersises your dj skills while you make beats! ive adopted a 'wasn't meant to be' attitude if i can't get it right using the decks. (for better or worse - admittedly its a limitation at times but thats all good)

some classic, well known and loved music has been released using real ghetto equipment. just use what you can get a hold of (no matter how nasty it may seem) and get into it. don't get caught up in people telling you that you need the latest this and that...

how do you pitch shift, tune on the 303? I had one about a year n half ago, before all that madlib hype. Could never findout how to tune the samples. Only way I got it to loop at a specific bpm was to time stretch it and you know what that does... ye made my sample complete stuttering garbage. Anyways, let us in. First i make beats just about everyday and im ever-growing and trying to expand my knowledge of arrangement and techniques all the way from patterns to engineering....I love it ALL....I feel as an artist u really can never simply stop growing and getting better at yer craft so in that repsect - im a loooooong ass way off from where i want to be - anyways, thats another story.

SO to begin, i started out fiddling with my popps music gear as a little kid and remember asside from taking guitar lessons and having an immense amount of music gear simply sitting there at my fingertips, all crammed inside our living room, None of that stuff really had an ultimate appeal to me till my dad bought this quarky sh!t drum machine back in the day to 4-track synthetic beats over his guitar and vocals after he was inbetween drummers in his band.

When popps wasnt around i started messing with the BOSS..lol....and thats how it began....

Bummer iz: i never had any scratch to build with and start accumulating the gear i planned to buy in the future...ie. an MPC, and some tables....

Then the day this amazing Software came out called Reason was what changed my perspective for good.

Until that day, i was completely convinced that analog/outboard gear was the only tru way to create amazing music and compositions on the fly, well i was wrong....

This software is just as capable of working off an initial loop, just as Thes described....(given that u copped a descent soundcard for yer computer that has plenty of routing capabilities....)

U work in virually the same way as Thes described, but then u transfer that audio to the computer rather then the Numark.

Dam,!.....I could go on forever, but i think ima have to cut since i still never got to my real point, whatever that was to start!?...haha.....

If anyone wants to hear more of my ramble - jus say go, otherwise, i dont blame u:-)
