Got a question about the 'code' input when filling in a message YoYo. I thought it would be cool to post html in meassages sometimes. Does 'code' do this? I tried putting a Font html tag between the code brackets but nothing happened.
So how do I take advantage of the code option, if at all possible?

Posts: 3,618Posted 21 years ago #the 'bbcode' is basically simplified html ( uses [] instead of <> ) - if you want something in bold or as a link or as a link to show an image then highlight the text/link and press the relevent button above.
Or if you just press the button once while typing it will open a bracket for you, you can then type in what you want or paste in a link and press the button again (it will have a star on it now) and it will close the bracket for you.
If you're confused as how to format what you're putting in for it to work then hover your mouse over the button and just below it gives you an example.
So, if I wanted to make some text bold and a quote then do[quote][b]this[/b][/quote]
If I wanted to put an image in then you put the link to the image inbetween
and[img][/img]
From messing around B is bold, i is italics, u is underlining, Quote puts things into a little quotation box, code allows you to see the bbcode in a post, list indents text (you can use it multiple times too), Img is for images, Url lets you make a link in some text or on its own and I have no idea what List= does, anyone know?
You can also highlight text and use the boxes above to change text colour and size, it's basically real simplified html that does everything for you

Posts: 3,618Posted 21 years ago #well, it's about 50 times easier just to not have them at all so I'm cool with that, I'm really not seeing much benefit from sigs at all. Besides how does this other forum enforce it? Do they just tell people not to have big annoying ones? Sounds a bit dubious to me
oh and slyjak I just remembered that as far as using html in posts goes, you can only use the b,i,u,pre tags -

Exactly, + the mods have the ability to edit a person's sig.
So if anyone goes over they just kill their sig, and tell em to change it or they lose their sig privelages.

Whats the big f***ing deal? Its a maximum 300 x 100 px signature, that if you are creative and want to show off what you like and/or write what you have in your setup, then why not?
No need to piss on everyones parade cause you don't like em.
You don't even have majority, you have one other person in this thread who has said no. So thats 2 people.
YoYoPo - Please don't cave into the vocal minority, while sigs are not necessary they do add to a forums overall feel and allow for more personality than say an Avatar. I would much rather have signatures only than Avatars only. Just MHO. -

hmm, I'm not sure. It could turn out bad - I've seen awful sigs recently
MF Doom is in there and i would much rather make myself a new one for this board. People Under The Stairs at a People Under The Stairs site is a little redundant.
edit - You just need mods that you're 100% will keep an eye out and most importantly come here daily.
Just think DOC you could get a SIG that said f*** A SIG!!!
