Favorite track so far on the album: Dr. Feelgood. Fo sho'! After that, the Commercial Rap (which is not on the album). This seems to bee a vibey grower which I have to listen to some more and chill by the beach or something at the same time. Good stuff all around.

Nah man! Ain't feelin' that one. Matter fact ain't feelin' no album since Carried Away.
Sounds like they went on the beach in Fun DMC and stayed there for all following albums.
To sum it up it think their 3 first LPs sounded more Old School East Coast and now they sound
more....beach music. -

A few thoughts on it:
1. From Carried Away onwards, their opening and closing tracks have been particularly on point. Roundabouts and Doctor Feelgood are really strong tracks, even with the intro/outro stuff making the tracks proper kind of short.
2. The first listen of Ste. for Reefer was jarring. But on subsequent listens, knowing where it's going, I think it's incredible. The beats are amazing, currently my favorite track on the album (followed by Roundabouts and The Strand,) and might wind up being an all-time favorite of mine.
2a. @2:14: Ride The Fence?
3. Still not a fan of 1 Up Til Sun Up (more a personal thing, I just don't like overt video game loops save for Gamin' On Ya.) Less of a fan of Pictures On My Wall; I felt like Thes went a little overboard with the pop culture references, doesn't seem like it will age well (as it is, the Rob Ford thing started last May.) Double's verse was good.
4. Love the continuation of the Creepshow-originating running joke with Double's foot fetish.
5. Cool Story Bro feels like a throwback to Om-era PUTS. Great track.
6. Sort of related, I really want that commercial rap.I'm not gonna rank it specifically among their past stuff, but I think Highlighter is a masterpiece just behind OST. This is a great album in a very different vein (that they can innovate like they're doing at this stage and yet stay so consistent is without precedent in hip-hop) and it's always really refreshing to hear new material from them, but I don't think I have the same reverence for it as the two mentioned.

I hope all the forum cats have a great night at the album release party. Rep the European forum heads as we can't be there. Peace.

Didn't realize till I got the vinyl today that the hand on the cover has 6 fingers. Trippy.
And I must say, the track-by-track artwork is phenomenal. That was a really cool addition to the album.

My buddy relocated to Cali, and still slept on this. "Ohh, its a far drive, blah blah blah". If I was in a neighboring state let alone in Cali, I'd be there. Hope everybody has a blast. I hope somebody takes good video or they do a DVD of it (but don't be the dude with his phone up in the air the whole show lol ; sucks that every show in this age is like that.....). Is Michael McDonald opening or what? /s

Awwww sh!t. I wanted to ask you about that. How could I go about filming a video for memories you know. The very last show they did in NYC I had my phone up half of the time. I was still enjoying the experience reciting lyrics at the top of lungs. I dont want to be that guy again. But what do you usually do? Film your favorite songs or just dont film at all. Its a bit tricky.

Well, I won't lie, I've been that guy a few times (quite a few probably, lol), but probably not as bad as some people who literally don't stop filming the whole time (last Queens of the Stone show I went to I was right behind that guy). Thats all I really meant. A little bit is expected....but yeah, it is a dilemma....I wish there was a video company that did all venues everywhere and did something where you could buy a download link to a quick dirty live copy of the show for $5 or something, and download it when you get home to have the memories. Then everybody wouldn't be forced to try to film with their phones and what not. I mean, I always think I'm filming well, but when watching playback after the show, its usually shaky footage with me yelling drunk over it (since you're so close to mic and sh!t when you film). A live concert video company like that is one of my ideas I don't have the billions to execute yet....lol

I totally agree that skits can get old quick (see 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul Is Dead), but when done right they do add depth to an album (See Midnight Marauders and Beats, Rymes,& Life, or any opening track to any MF Doom album). Then there's sh!t like Robbin' The Hood that seems cumbersome at first but grows on you till you can't live without it. And in general I always thought Sublime did a good job of finding interesting quotes to add to songs (Smoke Two Joints, Cisco Kid, 54-46/Ball and Chain).
PUTS is similar to Sublime in that way (for instance, all the quotes in Stepfather are great, and I often find myself saying the quotes with the lyrics when I listen to it). And a lot of times when PUTS does skits they'll add an awesome beat to along with it (Fly Love Song), and I love sh!t like Cookie's Theme (one of my top 5 from The P).
12SP does a great job with the skits. The Michael McDonald singing (that sounds like something you'd hear in rehab) is a nice contrast to the rest of the album and really helps to break up the songs, plus they're short so I don't get anxious and skip to the next track. I like the quotes that open up the album on Roundabouts too, they help to bring out the album's theme and focus. The Back To The Future quotes are f***ing SWEET!!! And elsewhere throughout the album quotes and interludes have awesome beats behind them. All in all I think everything about this album is on point.

Loving this album. Anyone know what the audio is from at the beginning of Roundabouts? Those guys sound goofy!
