As some of you may have noticed, there is no L.A. show scheduled on the second leg of the PUTS Fun DMC tour. We did this originally because we wanted to do a free show in L.A. as our ?L.A. show?, and we assumed that Amoeba Records in Hollywood would let us do a large scale free in-store show that would accomplish this (like we did for the Stepfather release). We appreciate every one of the 700 + people at the sold out Key Club show in Hollywood a few months ago, and wanted to do something free and open to the public to promote the new record. Unfortunately, Amoeba Hollywood has not committed to booking an in-store for us and appears to be trying to avoid doing so. Whether it be a scheduling conflict or industry politics, we feel like we?re one of only a few groups left who are bringing Los Angeles hip hop to the world and are still independent; as such, we rely on local independent music stores to have our back.
Please call Amoeba at 323 245-6400 and ask when the People Under the Stairs in-store for Fun DMC will be. If they have no date set, and you want to see us free & live at Amoeba, please ask them to schedule one. Please be nice to whoever answers the phone too fool! As always, we appreciate your support, and remember to pick up Fun DMC on September 30th, 2008.

Dude asked me how I heard about it and I said PUTS did 1 for the last album a couple years ago. Told him I'd call back in a couple weeks to see if it's booked yet. Wish I was going to be in LA for the in-store if it goes down... -

Guy just said that they don't have one scheduled. Said somethin' about october 2nd, but he was in a rush to get off the phone so I didn't really catch it. -

all of the people in charge of our fate in the industry need to know that we are down with the fans and they are down with us... this is a family affair
Heres how it went down:
Me: "Hi i was calling to get the date and time for the People Under the Stairs in store this month..."
Amoeba: "People Under the Stairs? Let me check...We dont have them scheduled this month. They played here last year, but..."
Me: "Really? Ive heard about it from like 20 different people. Are you sure?"
Amoeba: "Yeah, like I said, they played here last year but I dont see anything for them this year. WE TRY TO KEEP THINGS FRESH"
Me: "Fresh???
(WTF?! in my head) Well the P is as fresh as it gets! You know theres alot people talking about this instore. It might be a good idea to get ahold of them and set one up."
Amoeba: "Uh...okay. Where did you hear about this?"
Me: "I go to alot of shows in the area and everyones been talking about it."
Amoeba: "Oh. Well, try back next week"
Me: " I will. Thanks"

Posts: 32Posted 17 years ago #I'm sort of bummed that there is no PUTS show in LA but if worst comes to worst then i guess the best thing to do is go to Pomona, but there is no better feeling than seeing an LA native group perform in their own city...by the way the Key Club Show was def as f***..the homies and I ended up coming home with some live show memoribilia...anyways ill keep calling Amoeba requesting an in-store show. -

I thinks they might be getting annoyed more than anyhting...
