Tommy Evans stopped making music after Chester P made a bloody fool of him in front of everyone and exposed him for the chief he really is, Braintax has moved to Australia and given up making music apparently - I can't imagine him never doing anything again even just on a personal vibe though, so we may see a few more releases you never know... But then again Chester P's been ripping him hard over the Low Life dealings with the Voice of The Great Outdoors EP so maybe he'll never resurface (I hope not). Yungun always was a lawyer but still held it down, I can't see him retiring any time soon, Lewis Parker actually moved to the US and seems to be making waves, I think he still pops up here and there on UK releases though...
Don't know about any of the others, I'm pretty sure Jehst's still going strong - he was talking about a Billy Brimstone LP ages ago but not heard anything else about it yet, so hopefully that'll still drop and will be good...
The one major thing about having moved to the US is missing out on UKHH shows - I doubt Task Force will ever play in Orlando!

really? never heard bout this what was that about? evans was a good mc for a while man, i heard he stopped making music because he became muslim (not sure how true this is tho :-? ) -

I totally rate Chester P as one of the most technically gifted mc's i've ever heard, but to rip another MC to the extent where he stop making music is pretty brutal. I guess that's what the new mic orda is all about. Tommy Evans seemed like a pretty decent guy, and he had some good tunes. I don't think you could classify him as a "chief".
As for braintax, even though his last couple of releases were not up to birofunk, without braintax there wouldn't be a british hip hop scene to the extent there is today. Lowlife is by far the best label, or was the best label, so anyone ripping braintax doesn't sit well with me at all. The guy sorted it out, and was instrumental in releasing some of the best hip hop to come out of this country. -

I still cut up tunes from that album. Got quite a lot of the vinyl and many tunes doubled which is great for juggling etc.
And the accapella's give you even more room for creativity.
Split Personalities is one of my favourites.
Although none of the tunes are below par on that album and there are some wicked scratches by Plus One, Mr Thing etc on lots of the tracks.
This is definitly a solid UK Hip Hop album.
Skully has released some good Hip Hop mixes, 'Champion Sounds', 'Class is in Session' with DJ IQ, 'Squirrels with gunz' where all of the tunes are produced by Chemo. Some really good tunes on those mixes, UK and US. -

I think I read the beef Chester P had with Braintax was that they (i.e. Task Force) did Voice of The Great Outdoors EP for free to help him establish Lowlife, and he never gave them the props for it, even though it made him a sh!t load of money. Shame really because they did record damn good music when they collaborated.
YoYoPo are you talking about Usmaan who gave up music to practice Islam? He was in a crew last year called the Brotherz, making Islam-friendly acapella songs (apparently instruments are unholy), but now he's left that so don't know what he's up to anymore. His voice really used to grate me when he worked with Jehst so I wasn't too bothered anyway!
Er, what other rumours can I stir while I'm here?!

ah seen! i know about the taskforce / braintax deal, didnt know about tommy evans being called out on it. thought he was a solid mc - i think i just read something about him disappearin off the map because he converted to islam but probly was a mix up. did he really quit cos of Chester P?? The Chessmonster haha! Move Now is a BIG tune tho! -

Posts: 2Posted 17 years ago #I've just recently gotten into UK hip-hop but so far I love DJ Format, especially the song Charity Shop Soundclash. I'm kinda new to the whole hip-hop scene and the reason I got into it was from hearing San Francisco Knights and I was hooked.
If any of you guys know of some UK groups that are similar to DJ Format let me know. Thanks. -

Yeah, except now he's moved to New York and talks with an American accent not 6 months later - I've been here 3 years and still haven't managed that!

There's very few people who can hold it to DJ Format, there's a group from Brighton called the Hypochondriacs who did a 12'' called Back To Burn which was dope. Could try Dirty Diggers too? Have a look at my myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/djjohnsteed and go to the blogs section - the second show I've uploaded is my UK Hip-Hop mixtape... Not too heavy on the cuts as I'd only just got new turntables after moving to the US and being without any for several months (plus I just wanted to knock it out quick to give to people). Both artists I mentioned have tracks on that mix though...
@ Loudwon - don't even get me started on Plus One, I've already said too much negativity towards a scene I love so much!
