Hopefully we can make a limited edition PUTS shoe for the ten year anniversary of OST in 2012.

Posted 17 years ago #Just want to send a huge shout out to Vans for recognizing what we do. They reached out to us as they do many music groups (bad brains, kiss, etc) and let us know they are down with what we are trying to do, which is dope because the feeling is mutual. Vans gets mad respect and they are still locally run here in LA and down with the dudes at street level. They're going to be working with us and helping pump up the P and we are going to continue to proudly rock our Vans.
Hopefully we can make a limited edition PUTS shoe for the ten year anniversary of OST in 2012.

Posted 17 years ago #Damn thes, I don't know how I'd feel about PUTS custom Vans, I'd love em so much I probably wouldn't be able to wear em. Good stuff though, long live the P.

Posted 17 years ago #wow... where do i pre-order?
-
Posted 17 years ago #Oh my god I'm definitely getting two pairs. One to collect and one to rock. Times like these I'm glad I'm supporting Vans myself.

Posted 17 years ago #that such cool news... just goes to show that good honest hard work always gets noticed. Eventually...
Would love to see a VANS sponsored rap tour with yourselves Giant Panda, Ugly Duckling and Omega Watts. -
Posted 17 years ago #I'd love to see a Vans sponsored tour with The P and Bad Brains

thats what i'm talking about..
Vans breaking off Bad Brains is such a good look to me. We are definitely in good company and i am proud to rock their stuff because of who they get behind and how they operate. Plus they are local for us and still represent hardcore with a full skatepark in their factory just for employees.
And for they record, just in case some people may be leery of the whole thing, they hollered at us after seeing us rock around town and at Coachella with a genuine respect for what we do.
If only more companies operated that way. -

I hope this means that the P is gonna blow up a little more, as you guys should. -
Posted 17 years ago #So Thes, what does it actually mean for you guys, being on the Vans roster? You get some sneaks?
Seriously though, out of curiosity of how the whole thing works, will they give you resources towards the projects you're working on?
And is it reciprocal? Will you be expected to promote em?
Feel free to ignore these questions, I'm just curious
Damn I wish they had a skate park at my work, it would definitely encourage me to start skate boarding instead of just wearing the shoes and playing the computer games. -
Posted 17 years ago #Well, they don't really like to come off as an advertisement from their artists, so they literally left it up to us. They said we don't even have to wear the shoes if we don't wan tto, they want us to still express ourselves with our gear, which i respect. Ever other company that has hit us off with a pair of sneaks here or there has basically said, wear these. Most of the time they were fugly ass shoes no one bought.
Vans gave us the catalog and said, if you see anything you like, it's your. Mad respect. We aren't going to be blatantly dropping references in rhymes (and it's dope they didn't ask us to or want us to) but at the same time i'm def going to represent the brand because of how they came at us.
In terms of what it means for us aside from gear, they will help promote the band, help the tours, they have international reps that can help us out overseas, and hopefully we can get on the warped tour next year and come through like every frickin city with them! -
Posted 17 years ago #Man that's really cool. It's like they said "keep doing what your doing, but know that we're diggin it". Wow. I didn't think people still did things like that is this selfish free-market capitalised world we live it. Well props to vans. DC can get to f*ck ha ha.
Sounds like their gonna hook you up man, good stuff!
"Most of the time they were fugly ass shoes no one bought", that sh!t cracks me up. -
Posted 17 years ago #I'd like to continue the love for this but something doesn't sit right in my head, its good that VANS don't expect or ask for promotion through the music as that would be terror lake but there is something a little wrong about any larger organization "jumping on the bandwagon". I'd ask where they were 10years ago.....PUTS were as dope then as they are today....anyway no disrespect just my opinion and i suppose RUN DMC were doing it back in the dayo

Posted 17 years ago #Nah you are hating. I'm sure a lot of us slept on The Next Step when it first came out, it wasn't after listening to Question's that I decided to back and check out the album before that, and as long as Vans is interested and helping PUTS move units I got nothing but love for that.
Basically, better to jump on board later in the game than never at all. -
Posted 17 years ago #Yep i can see what you are saying and truly i'm not hating(Apart from maybe on VANS) i guess i'm just uneasy with the "Big Corp" issue. Maybe if it was a smaller indie company looking to help PUTS and inturn help themselves then that would be cool.......i don't know. At the end of the day you do what you have to do.....one love

Posted 17 years ago #I dont see a problem with a group having a sort of "sponsor." Especially OUR favorite group. C'mon guy, no matter who sponsors the P, huge corp or mom and pop, the P never sells out and never will. We all know the duo are very savvy business men who can walk that fine line between being successful and keepin it real. Whatever helps get the name out there sounds good to me.
