I got the Dr. Oop 12"(with Just the Three of Us... if that's the one you're talking about). I found it in a small record co-op shop in Philly, paid $7. Worth hunting down for sure, but that's more for the completionist in me. For real, you need to hunt down a copy of the DoubleK/OldeSoul 7". That's for sure worth the hunt, and it's hand-numbered.

Olde Soul is fire for sure. Ima hunt for that one.

Yep. Same here. I got mine form OM directly and it is definitely skipping in "All good Things". I thought that the vinyl may be slightly warped (living on Oz it isn't the first time a record has arrived with a fault due to poor handling in transit)
The copy I have skips in the FNM 'Epic' sample and just wont quit, but it doesn't do it on Side C, which rules out warping.
I'll email OM tonight and see what can be done to order a replacement copy sent.
I have a second copy ordered from HHV I'll check to see it its skipping when it arrives and post back.
I sincerely hope not though!

Where is it skipping? It seems that everyone who got the vinyl with All Good Things is getting this problem too. If it's skipping in the exact same place on the same song, it could be by design...why this would be done, I'm not sure.

its skipping on my copy of all good things too, doesnt even have any visible scuffs or scratches, but it skips throughout the whole track... not sure if i should send it back or what

On mine, I didn't Sherlock-Holmes it or anything, but I could see that some of the grooving looked a little strange, and also there were a few tiny dots on one spot...

ya i was lookin for those dots everyone keeps mentioning, didnt see anything though... still skips! i was thinking this might be why they delayed the vinyl release for so long, but who knows. all i know is the little bits i heard with that faith no more piano and everything were amazing, and i want to hear it uninhibited! sh!t!

Not trying to "cry to dad" here, but... what's the word, Thes?

a) are the skips in the playback intentional?
b) is this something that you could check into, or is a part of the distribution that is out of the artist's hands when they're on the Om label? (jeez, I hope not)
c) can we get a sound file if we e-mail you proof of vinyl purchase?

This track is dope, and I'm really looking forward to hearing it how it's supposed to be played.

Well - short answer is sh!t can happen when you make vinyl.
And really it's f***ed up now that everyone has to deal with that.

Long answer is i may be partly at fault. I'm the type of person that likes to do everything myself so that when the sh!t hits the fan I can only blame myself, which i much prefer over pointing fingers. Even though it's not my responsibility, i feel like i should have caught this.

Here's what happened:

I received the test pressing for proof. I didn't hear it skip on any of the tracks. I approved the test. I was on tour when the first copies of vinyl came in, they went straight to om, but apparently (i guess) had the skip. I have a modified 1200 with a KAB paddlewheel that keeps the tonearm rock steady and it wouldnt' jump even if there was a skip, so i am probably not the best person to be QC on the project - i kind of put that on the label to test. Either way, i can only surmise that what happened is either:

A) the plating is f***ed up
B) Rainbo had some sh!t on the plate when they stamped (which is most likely)

Rainbo Records has done nothing but f*** this project up from the jump. They are the ones who ran 3 weeks late on pressing the double vinyl. They ran 4 weeks late on pressing the colt 45. And now it appears they have f***ed the pressing on the vinyl ON THE BONUS TRACK OF ALL f***ing TRACKS. way to go. AS far as who's responsible for this, i'm going to stay out of it, because it's not my job to fix it, i'm just running facts here. Neither Om nro PUTS did this intentionally, which is the bottom line. Rainbo should have to repress and replace - but that's just the artist speaking and speculating.

I'll see if i can get everyone on the same page to take care of this, and i am truly sorry that this was built up to be a dissapointment. I'm trying my best to organize and get all of this right. I care enough to be on the forum in the middle of the night explainign this to you guys, so i'm sure you know i'll do my best to make sure the peopel who can will try to make this right. Though sometimes i'm pretty sure i'm the only one who really cares about sh!t on our side!

on the bright side, my copy finally came from hhv with the really cool Carried Away T-shirt, needless to say I'm one very happy guy today...

Thank you for the explanation. The fact that you are on here telling us this makes me completely at peace with this whole situation. Also, the little bits of "All Good Things" that I heard make me feel like the wait will be worth it. No pressure. Do what you feel you need to do, and we'll be here when the product's ready.

That being said, I hope that this isn't something Rainbo does regularly, 'cause there are way too many industries nowadays that lack quality. Maybe it was just some fool eating lunch while he was supervising the stamping. Good thing I just had scratches and not ketchup up on my turntable.

My HHV parcel arrived today - didn't bring my portable vestax to work, but to the naked eye, the vinyl looks OK.

Perhaps a simple tweak of the tonearm can fix this?

Anyway - package looks good - I even took off the plastic to open the gatefold which I have NEVER done in the past!

Now - where can I pick up a Beer 45.. Anyone?
