Posts: 27Posted 21 years ago #I only have "The Main Ingredient" so I cant say if any of their others are better, but I think that this is a great album to start with. Its one of the albums that you hit play and just sit back.
Pete Rock is God. His jazz sampling abilities induce salivation. If you want to check out a killer album, cop the "Lost And Found" double CD package. 'Center of Atention' with InI is incredible. Another personal favorite. Its mostly really laid back. Scary too because it took so long to come out and is still one of the best albums Ive heard latley. Can never have too much Pete Rock. -

Posts: 3,618Posted 21 years ago #by the way don't buy the 'The Surviving Elements' record - I saw Pete Rock recently in London and he said f*** bbe records cos they put out this record without asking him and that not to buy it cos it wan't by Pete Rock - his words man

Posts: 25Posted 21 years ago #well before anybody gets confused by the wording, it's by Pete Rock, just not Pete Rock approved. Doesn't have the stamp of approval and it was put out without authorization.
and sh!t, they only had a few albums, get both of them and the ep last.
Pete Rock's best work to me was the 94/95 stuff so definitely get The Main Ingredient and instrumentals - plus the InI work which is better than Deda's (well maybe cause I heard it first and it really hit the spot) but since they're packaged together, scoop that up too. -

The Soulsurvior 1st is dope too like few tracks of the 2cnd,and dont forget petes "diggin on blue" mixtape,but about what iam talking about? Get all the pete stuff - if puts or pete,you dont go wrong with any track

Posts: 44Posted 21 years ago #The Main Ingredient is one of my top 5 hip-hop albums of all time along with O.S.T., Question, Ressurection by Common Sense and Midnight Mauraders. Does any one else rank Pete Rock and CL in their top five albums, or what do some of you others out there have ranked as your top five hip-hop albums of all time?
