First off, I wanna say I'm a big fan of Madlib's work. Soundpeices was one of my favourite albums...
But has he just gone a bit too mad?
Madvillian was MAD but it was tasteful, but I recently picked up the Bus Ride 12", and besides Rappacats, the tracks are mad and really, dumb...
Greenery sounds like some bleep-hop so, I'm not gonna get into that.
But the title track Bus Ride is a bit Roc-a-fella, and it has these off-beat interludes between each verse so you just can't play it at a shindig.
Anyone else noticed Madlibs recent over-madness? :-?

First off, I am not hating or getting mad
second Have you ever listened to anything Roc-a-fella? This is not even close.
Third, I generally dislike a large majority of madlibs work. But I like this LP better than any others.
I still dont like it like it. I will not pull it out 5 years later and listen to it. -

Lootpack, Madlib solo, Madvillian, Quasimoto, MF Doom, I mean I get so confused at what he does, he is a little off the wall, but it's all love. I like his beats, but not all, some are just a little too hard to digest. -

I was semi-dissapointed when I heard the new Lord Quas album, but after acouple listens... you realize that Madlib makes music HE likes, and thats that. -

If you dont dig a few of his tracks today, listen to that "weak" sh!t 10 years from now when you got kids of your own and you would say its dated and dope. He can only put out so little of his work so he throws in alot of sh!t in one album. He does make like an album every 3 days right? and hes got over 30 YNQ albums made already right?
Plain and simple, his music is ALL dope, but it depends when you listen to it to consider it dope. -

Posts: 384Posted 21 years ago #you cannot dismiss the fact that Madlib has an alter ego, its just his trip-down toward his own music, and at the same time, its created some hype behind his music as well, hes got everyone asking, "who is quasimoto, etc"
well, its all him, split personalities are not uncommon, but i dont think its the case here where its a serious thing happening, hes just masking his lyrics with a voice to do somthing creative, and in my opinion, hes made some great tunes!
i heard the new albumn, but havnt had a chance to listen to it more carefully and digest it to the fullest, but so far, it seems quasimoto is up to his old self, smokin green, and up to no good.

). Rhinestone Cowboy has a dope video.
