Posted 21 years ago #I found the Nujabes - Metaphorical Music wow wow wow what a great album
now I feel so bad for sleeping on Five Deez there ill too -
Posted 21 years ago #I've never ordered from this Japanese website before, but it's in English and worth a try:
http://www.nippon-export.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=nujabes
Besides "Metaphorical Music", they're also selling "Departure" and "Impressions". These are two soundtracks that Nujabes and Fat Jon (Five Deez) did for the Samurai Champloo animae cartoon series. Both of them are worth buying!!!!! The official Samurai Champloo website link is below:
HERE
You should definitely buy the Samurai Champloo Vol. 1 & 2 DVDs... for the awesome animation and the dope ass music! Both Volume 1 & 2 are being sold in the U.S.A. at the bigger chain stores (like Best Buy, etc.). I'm not a huge fan of Japanese animae, but after finding out that Nujabes did the opening theme song (with Shing02 rapping) and Nujabes also did the end song for the credits (with Japanese pop star Minmi singing), I had to check the DVDs out.
The Japanese pressings of the two soundtracks on the Nippon-Export website have very cool/stylish packaging, but because of the high prices, you might be better off getting the "domestic" versions (like the ones that I bought on eBay) from the website below:
http://www.cartoonpassion.com/sachso.html
Besides the two soundtracks that Nujabes and Fat Jon did, you can also see that there are two other soundtracks for Samurai Champloo. These were done by Tsutchie and Force Of Nature. I'd definitely stay away from the "Play" soundtrack, but the "Masta" soundtrack has some good stuff on it! Force Of Nature is a Japanese rap group with two albums to their name. They're signed to Libyus Music, and you can check out the Libyus Music website below. FYI, the guy at Libyus Music promoted and distributed Nujabes' "Metaphorical Music" CD in Japan.

Posted 21 years ago #Hey Thes,
Ever think about hooking up with some cool/hip animae cartoonists and doing a soundtrack for one of their new series? Samurai Champloo blew up over in Japan, and it's "relatively" popular here in the States amongst all of the animae fans. Just a friendly suggestion...

Posted 21 years ago #In regards to Pase Rock, go to Undergroundhiphop.com:
http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/searchresults.asp?Cty=&searchby=Artist&keywords=pase+rock
They have the "Bullshiit As Usual" 12" single, but they're sold out of all of the other stuff that he did with Nujabes. I got "The Old Light" 12" single a few years ago and it is a favorite of mine. Click on the song and have a listen!
With a lot of the Hyde Out Productions stuff, you had to be really lucky and get them when they first came out... otherwise, that shiit is very hard to find!!! If you're interested in other old Hyde Out Production releases, look for 12" singles by Funky DL, Substantial, and Shing02. Nujabes produced and put out a lot of 12" singles for those guys as well. Nujabes also put out a Hyde Out Productions compilation CD of all of these guys' releases. This, too, unfortunately was only available in Japan. -
Posted 21 years ago #yeah, thank you very much phizyx for your reply.
today is a beautiful day because i just got the albums pase rock, bullshizzle as usual / nujabes, metaphorical music.
these albums are absolutely ill!!! pase rock man, i love it. i've also got the 12" old light, grey matter, bullshizzle as usual and i hope there's a way to find the 12" it's about time. this sh!t goes under my skin man!! perfect music. nujabes, amazing!!! i'll defenetly check out departure and impression.
unfortunately, on the album metaphorical music there's just a remix from the song blessing it (feat. substantial & pase rock)
do you know where i can get the original version from ??
thanks again

Posted 21 years ago #I'm intrigued about Nujabes, where can I get sound clips?
-
Posted 21 years ago #there's a bit here: http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail.asp?sku=575182

Posted 21 years ago #Sorry, but I haven't been able to find any other online sound clips for Nujabes' releases.
I did come across some more links for discographies, however. These first two are from his website, but it doesn't look like the site has been updated in awhile. Most of the releases shown on this sit were available a few years ago here in the States on websites like http://www.sandboxautomatic.com and http://www.hiphopsite.com:
http://www.hydeout.net/inside/discography.html
http://www.hydeout.net/inside/discography2.html
This next discography has his most recent works, including the "Blessing It" 12" single. Besides the first 3 CDs that this site shows, the only thing that I've actually seen/own is the Funky DL "People Don't Stray" 12" single. You just can't find this stuff outside of Japan!
And although the site says "Tracklist & Sound Samples", I don't believe that there are any actual sound samples:

Posted 20 years ago #I never hit up this topic! I actually picked up Pase Rock - bullshizzle As Usual, Nujabes - Metaphorical Music and Best of Hyde Out Productions when I was in godd ole Japan land.
all real real real dope. I also saw the Lady Brown 12" and the Samurai Champloo soundtracks but I didn't have the money left to spend
If you're ever in Tokyo just head to HMV and Tower Records in Shibuya for easy pickings like these (oh, and 'the realness dope' stuff like this haha)
I really can't get enough of the Nujabes production, I could listen to his tracks all day every day and it wouldn't get tired.
