Posted 16 years ago #So, any new year's resolutions?
-
Posted 16 years ago #Yo EarthTraveler! Hope your holidays are goin well.
As for me, im gonna take this year's new year's resolutions a little more seriously (or so I hope), since its a decade year (2010).
1) Go to a PUTS show!
2) Get into a semi-serious relationship! I've been foolin around with the ladies for quite some time now
but I'm yearing for something a bit more involved, ya feel me?
3) Get into the best shape! I've been working on this for a while, and i'm real close to my final goal, just a couple pounds left (the last few are bitches) and some nice gym sessions.
4) Improve my music making! I want to take my music making to the next level (I have yet to figure out what that is yet)
What about you guys? -
Posted 16 years ago #...in no particular order:
-go to MORE P shows.
-actually make it out to CA one of these days.
-buy a mt bike, to b green and i miss my old one.
-buy more music--i go on these streaks of gettin a sh!t load of albums and then nothing for several months. -
Posted 16 years ago #See PUTS live.
Make sure that wedding/honeymoon goes through alright and I give my woman the time of her life.
Get my finances in order ('cause my sh*t's seriously f***ed right now).
Lose some weight (I was 197 going into college, managed to drop down to 167... then went home and ate too many Sicilian meals, and ballooned up to 220 when I added all the fat back onto the muscle mass I'd collected when I lost weight... F@*&!!!).
Finish my Masters thesis. -

What's the Masters in, and where?
I guess for me it would be get hella good grade, get into Columbia, find a girl to spend some actual quality time with, you know, basic sh!t. But mainly trying to get into Columbia. -

UC Davis... I did my undergrad there in genetics, and now I'm doing my Masters in forensic science, like the lab techs in the C.S.I. shows... I'm on the DNA track, so I'd be working on genetic material and samples... you can still work in the field eventually and collect evidence and analyze crime scenes (it's gruesome as hell, but I'm down for it... already collected insect larvae off a dead woman...)SactownConnection said:

I'm done with my classwork already, and I only have the thesis left to finish. I'm working on a thesis that isn't related to forensics, but still uses the same genetic techniques (real-time polymerase chain reactions... about as fun as it sounds). Basically, I'll be anayzing macaque monkey samples from the same family tree to determine resistance to simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV... like HIV, only for monkeys)... if the research works the way we hope, it could help determine what genes cause resistance to HIV in humans... good stuff. -
Posted 16 years ago #Holy youth explosion sactown, that is some heavy duty sh!t. Best of luck to you my brother. And to you trench! I hope you guys reach your goals.
If you ever get stressed out, just hit us up at the P forums, where the brew is always cold, the music is always chill, and the people, well....the people are always under the stairs.

Posted 16 years ago #Well my plan is to lose weight, it's been on the books for some time but I need the motivation, this has now come in the form of the need to get a girlfriend.
So fingers crossed we'll see! -

Congrats on the girlfriend.

Unfortunately, in my case, getting the girlfriend meant gaining a gang of weight ('cause I didn't have as much time to go work out, and it's harder to moderate my food intake with two people), but it's completely an individual thing; every relationship is different. If she wants to eat well and lose weight too, you'll have it a lot easier. Don't get discouraged. Good luck, man! -
Posted 16 years ago #Haha cheers Sactown
Just read my post again and it's misleading
what I meant to say was I need to lose a small amount of weight and tone up to get a girlfriend lol at the moment my purchase of a Fender Rhodes piano has been a substitute for my spare time but now I need to sort something out

Haha, oops. Sorry about the premature congrats then. But hey, it's all good. Lose that weight, and in the meantime, remember... a Fender Rhodes makes a lovely girlfriend... before my current girl, I was dating a Roland electric piano, and we made good music together.

Haha it certainly does! I'm learning some of the PUTS tracks like LA9X, Jamboree Pt 2 etc at the moment. Maybe I should also add that another resolution is to improve my piano playing.
