williamhmacy said: the SF dj set with j-boogie was amazzzing! I for some reason missed this thread and didnt check out the tour page, so I was in the dark about this gig until just a couple hours before the show, but as soon as i found out i rolled up an herb trifecta and jetted. it was so good, they just dj'ed, no rapping, but they did some hype-work over the microphone and truly rocked the party! double was cuttin it up all night literally 2 ft. in front of my eyes, and thes did some serious mixing, he even threw on the original sample for the fun dmc intro!(it was a 45
) Got to smoke with double and slap fives with thes, it couldn't have been a better san francisco night
Oh, that was you over there lightin' up with Double? I was wondering if there were other cats from the forum up in there last night...
I was there too, for most of the night (I left around 2 AM 'cause I had some work to do early this morning with my lady). I was the dorky-looking square in a black dress shirt and glasses by the other side of the tables bobbin' my head the whole time. I have no rhythm and am basically that goofy white guy who vibes and peeps everything instead of dancing like a maniac. I filmed the first 45 minutes of the set, but it turned out to be REALLY sh*tty quality video... d*mn!
But yeah, I introduced myself to Thes, and Thes probably thought "who's this weird-*ss dude?". Coolest part about a P.U.T.S. DJ set is that they are hanging with the audience for hours instead hiding somewhere in the back 'til their set (like a pop star or some sh*t). Just sucks that I couldn't roll out to Som with anyone, 'cause my lady had a show to do and my friends were all busy.
As for their set: Fucken. Wicked. Watching them cut was great. They pulled HELLA cuts from the Fun DMC mix tape and other stuff, they started out the set with a lot of female-vocalists ("for the ladies in the house"), and Thes freestyled a bit. A few table-bumps by the ladies, but it's all good. Highlights:
"Just my opinion, but San Francisco has the hottest girls anywhere"
"We don't take no f****ng requests!" (some guy tried to do a request and walked away all offended, hahahahaha

)
"Yo, Gary, bring me a beer... [5 min later and no beer] Yo, Gary, bring me a beer... [5 min after that... still no beer] GARY, BRING ME A BEER... and a Long Island Iced Tea for Double!!"
"This is all vinyl, we don't use no laptops!"
I wasn't as impressed with J Boogie... not trying to put the man down, his choice of music was good and it got the people moving, but he was doing the straight DJ thing with the apple laptop and not much audience interaction, etc... still cool though...
