1984 should be compulsory reading for everyone - the tone, the pacing, the mood, it's absolutely penetrating. The progression and its ending is just sublime.

I've heard the Bagavad Gita is some good sh*t. Hindu. Always wanted to take a look, never had the chance.

Irvine Welsh has better work though, Porno is a treat, (sort of a sequel to trainspotting), but my favorite by him is Maribu Stork Nightmares. It's a fevered horrible novel, but simaltaneously amazing...
I remember watching trainspotting with a bunch of folk from all over the world when i was in australia. They could all speak english, but i still had to translate the motherf*cker...

The book was a diffucult read, really struggled. no offence dodo, ive worked up glasgow way and you guys speak a different sort of english,when i worked there regular for a few months i got better at understanding it. i imagine same for you and some welsh people, (especially those fluent welsh gits up north. lmao)
Just read The Tipping Point after a suggestion on here, im doing sociology/psycology in uni so a good read, just starting 1984 this morning, wish i hadnt read the introduction tho, given the game away a bit. lol.

I wouldn't say there are many inside U.S. references. There's actually an interesting article about how categorizing pitbulls is like racial profiling when it comes to terrorist threats (they used the London bus bombings as an example). But overall it's about Americans, many about Enron, many about the State Department. Still a good read. -

in order, i think,
1984- damn sh!t scary book if i ever read one, that final chapter....
One flew over the cukoos nest- REALLY enjoyed it, i aint seen the film yet tho, but the book was super dope
Mc Mafia- picked it up for a £1, wasnt a terrible book but a bit too based on economics and not enougfh action
A clockwork orange- unfortunatly i couldnt get over the language barrier, i know people who after the first chapter are fine with it, but i kept wanting to know what each word meant and it killed the pace of the book to a crawl.
Hells Angels- HST does it again, sauch a talent, another book i really enjoyed

these MASSIVE criminology/sociology textbooks i promised i would read by september when i go back to uni, they are huge and the reading is ongoing. lol.

Richard Hammond 'on the edge'.
Its about when he crashed that rocket car... the crazy bastard!
Its writtern how he talks so takes a bit to get into but once you're in its a nice read.
I dont usually read "celebrity" books but someone lent it to me awhile ago and when I came off my BMX I decided to start reading it.
Ironically I'm using a 'head injury' pamphlet from the hospital as my bookmark.
Not the first time they've given me one of those :-?
