So, this whole venture is going to be done in conjunction with you all, the fans, not against you or to take advantage of you.
This new business i'm forming is going to be two part -

1) A new label which will facilitate the recording, manufacturing and dispersion of PUTS and PUTS related materials to all of you.

2) A webstore where you will be able to buy, amongst other things, these products direct from the artist(s) which would include affiliated artists such as DJ Day or Alibi or anyone else. Digital distribution will still happen on-line through the usual suspects but this will be a place for you to purchase limited and manufactured PHYSICAL units directly from us. The absolute RULE will be that all products will be shipped immediately upon receiving the order, all products will be sold AS marketed and in better than expected value and condition, and the entire experience will leave you feeling awesome. As such, I am going to be partnering with my homeboy Spelunk to facilitate immediate shipping on all orders as well as product management. We will price everything fairly and honestly and by cutting out all the middlemen, probably cheaper than what you have been paying from other sites/stores.

I'm buggin' out on everything you just said. Gimme a sec to think a bit, and I'll post my thoughts. So far I've only got one thought: excellent start, man.

I agree with some kind of remix album; that Hit The Top contest proved that there are people willing to do something. It would also be cool to see how you guys could re-envision things you've already done. I mean, I know that'd feel like a step back and all, but still... maybe make a 20-minute mixcomp of "PUTS cuttin' up PUTS" and you could just mash layers from some of your different tracks together...

I also think that you could price gouge us (haha, just kidding) with live PUTS shows, if you have recordings of any good ones... I mean, look at Phish: those homies release a lot of live albums, and they get snapped up too. That reminds me, I've been meaning to ask: did you record Bonnaroo? I'd love to hear that show.

I know silly ass tour dates like Phish pulls off, with 75 dates in a summer, is not your bag. Maybe doing three months on and three months off would work better for you guys. (i.e animal collective) It would seriously bring up the word of mouth by keeping your name in the show listings.

As for the live recordings, taping Phish shows works because the shows are different every night. Who would want to buy the same show. I know Improvisation is hard to do with our tools (I know I have been tryin? to make it work for years) but try a different song selection every night or a tour with an underlining theme. This would keep bringing the new fans back for more.
