So the petitions have been filed in California... how do you feel about this? Just curious.
If it is legalized, you know the state government's gonna tax the sh*t out of it and control THC levels, but there are still a lot of ups to it.
I don't want to say too much, 'cause I'd rather have active smokers give me their opinions first. -

Posted 16 years ago #Im not down wit it gettin legalized...
i enjoy smokin low key lol -
Posted 16 years ago #See, I had a feeling that might be the general opinion. I'm just most worried about it getting legalized at a time when the state economy is absolute sh*t, 'cause some politicians might see it as this huge revenue builder, so the initial tax they throw on a "pack of j"s would be ridiculous. And like I said: to top it off, it'd probably be some horrible stuff.
But on the flipside, at least if it was legal, then you COULD potentially grow your own and trade with your buddies a lot more freely and out in the open, so the "peer-to-peer" buds would be of such excellent quality, that the gov't would have to step up their quality, or they wouldn't be able to compete. haha. -
Posted 16 years ago #If the bud is subpar people could always grow their own. There are always going to be those people, just like the ones that roll their own cigarettes and such.

Posted 16 years ago #I used to work with a dude who one day happened to comment that he used to be a "hydroponics technician"
... til the police knocked on the door and he was arrested in possession of 2000 weed plants!
and he got off! ha! -

agree
this is a large step for the marijuana community, what we need as a society amd I fully support this! -
Posted 16 years ago #Do it!
The gov would def make a mess of things with taxation & the like, but like you said SAC just grow your own... I'd PUTS 'em right next to the tomatoes
-
Posted 16 years ago #Thing is, in the Scotland at the moment, i dunno what it's like in the states or down sowf, but all the mass bud production is controlled by east asian gangs, mostly vietnamese I think... and these gangs don't give a flying f*ck about anyone who's smoking it, so it's covered in pesticides, dipped in sugar water to make it more crystaline, damp as f*ck when you get it so it's heavier, some times sprayed with industrial silicone solution to make it heavier and look better, etc etc etc... the only clean nice bud available is homegrown, and that will continue even if it is legalised, so i'm all for undercutting the gangs pumping out this chem-weed and legalising that sh1t, and putting some stringent quality controls in place...
-
Posted 16 years ago #Private growing is the way forward, perhaps growers could apply for a licence so the government could get money out of it.
If it had to come to that... those filthy fiends getting more of our cash money!
Down sowf... well we sometimes pay extra just to make sure we get nice clean untampered homegrown at good weight without having to deal with some shady character.
In countries such as Spain I've heard you're allowed (is that the right word?) to grow about 3(?) plants at your home.
Obviously Spain has a better climate than South UK but we've got GREEN houses.
I think that's the way forward.
Although will there be problems if after years and years of Governments and Politicians saying how bad it is (most unfounded and going against Scientific evidence provided to them) for them to U turn and make it legal?
Especially if they just tax it heavily to gain more money.
Perhaps to use on illegal wars, a 2nd home allowance or to pay for their husbands to watch porn?!!
Final thought...

Posted 16 years ago #Yes Legalise it!!!!! ?Not decriminilize, no half assed attempt, i want complete worldwide legalization thats the only way its gna work...
(insert tried and tested argument, used by countless people since the prohibition began)
2bh, im so damn sick of the argument and even the people around me who dont smoke are like, "why is this not legalised? im sick of hearing bou it? theres no gud reason for it to remain illegal"
Peace n smoke yall

Posted 16 years ago #Maybe(don't know), if he was still alive, Bob Marley might have had some influence on this.
I definitely agree with you about the homegrown weed, Dodo.
Homegrown is a upper, Chemical stuff a downer, I have experienced.
A friend of ours grows 5 nice big fat plants (which is legal, 5 plants) in his backyard, and he always supplies me free of charge.
Old hippie guy, very smart and philosophical, I always have deep conversations with him talking about life etc. with a nice smoke and a beer.
His stuff can really get you up. -

Word.
I've spoken to people (I only smoke the herb) and they say that they dont like tweed coz its a downer(?!!) and prefer uppers like powders or whatever.
Well me and my mate definitley werent on a downer "giggling like a couple of School girls" (according to his gf) all weekend on some proper good homegrown.
Also if you're getting High how can that be a downer?!
Alcohol is a downer and so are people who say weed is.
Coz there are more strains than they've got soul and each strain and hell even each plant can have different effects.
Your comment on Bob Marley is very interesting.
Bcoz who doesnt like and enjoy at least one Bob Marley track?
There is a reason for his mass worldwide appeal.
Peace. -
Posted 16 years ago #I definitely like some good shop weed too, no doubt.
It's always nice getting high, but some homegrown is definitely more of an upper than coffeeshop.
Coffeshop can get me all lazy, which is not a bad thing.
But his stuff is just a real nice smoke it elevates you a bit, a cheerful feeling, very happy etc., more so than shop weed.
I am very fortunate too, I know kids my age who are 'desperately' hiding it from their folks and all, a couple of days ago me and my father sat together had a beer, smoked a joint and watched match of the day
