As my obsession for the P grew, the more that I was feelin' like I should reach out to his friends & share the love for PUTS & hiphop in general... Long story short, we all ended up meeting on the Forum first & then after a while actually realized that we are all friends with the same dude. After that, there was no turning back & the meet was on. So now these dudes are some of my closest bros & we are always down for the P. PUTSFAN, Puts fiend i know you're out there... BTW i wouldn't be diggin' if it wasn't for PUTS & these cats.
So Yah I think that PUTS fans have a lot of common ground & should always try to reach out to fellow fans. We are a special breed imo..

We definitely are a special kind man. I mean look at all the threads we have about philosophy and books and what not. Even the little things like favorite sandwiches. Something wonderful about the P's music has brought all these great people together. Now if only we could get more ladies on the boards.... -

Man you americans don't know how good you've got it, you guys are all seeped in good hip hop. The scene is dead in the UK. If you like underground hip hop, it's instantly assumed that you're a pervert and a weirdo. -

Yeah I went in my local HMV (not that I actually shop there) in Salisbury and was having a look in the "Hip Hop" section and what should I see there...

At our local record shop (Free Record Shop, chain of record shops throughout the country), they call the supposedly 'Hip-Hop' section Urban.
If there's a word out there that I despise, it has to be be Urban.
But then again it's all crap, so I guess the word Urban suits it well.
There are almost no decent Hip-Hop concerts either.
Like everywhere (I guess) it's just a certain amount of people, that know good Hip-Hop.
And I don't want to get started with this again (it's been said one too many times)
But the other day I was bumpin the P and someone was listening with me.
He goes oooh, sh!tty rap (he listened for about 10 seconds), he then turns on one of these Ipodspeakers and puts on Lil Wayne (I know I know, it's been mentioned too often) and says this is good rap.
I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but I can't help to shake my head in utter disbelief. -

...but no one gives a sh*t about those commercial f*ckin' things (independent labels anyone? Anyone?), so back on thread topic:
I'd love to hang out with y'all. Chances are that you'll be a little disappointed by me 'cause I'm a f*ckin' dork, and I fit the definition of "normal" to a tee: I'm average-height, slightly overweight, and I dress either in T-shirts and shorts or button downs and khakis (think Q-Tip in the "Can I Kick It" video). Jeans have never been my thing.
My face also tends to scare little children and make cops draw their guns, but... that's a whole 'nother story. -

Q-Tip is cool as f***, so if he can kick it, I don't know why you can't.
I'm a nerd too, no doubt.
I always wear a 59/50, so people quickly associate you with representin street life, pushin' Ks, smackin' up hoes, doin' drive-bys etc. (well not really to that extreme, but you get my drift)
In reality it's a bit different. -

I dunno, its just not my style. But hey, no disrespect to em, or those who enjoy that song. I just see his earlier style so much lyrically engaging and interesting. This new stuff sounds like Apu from the Quik-e-Mart rappin.

Damn Em used to be dope. f***ing great rhymes and grimy beats, love it. Mos Def was nominated a few times too, didn't win though...Em beat him out (as he's done so many times). Everyone was talking about the Grammy's yesterday, disappointing.
As far as being nerdy, dude, in the same boat. Awkward black kid with slightly crooked glasses, several music posters in my room and an encyclopedic knowledge of film, music, books etc. I'm on the Knowledge Bowl team for my school for christ's sake (but guess who qualified for nationals in Chicago?). So I guess there are pros and cons.
