Posted 16 years ago #Never heard of Solar before now, apparently he's a dick?

Posted 16 years ago #Who's solar?
-
Posted 16 years ago #Solar is Guru's new producer, since his beef/split with Premier.

Posted 16 years ago #Man i read the boards and everything else on that hip hop dx site. What bullsh!t... It's turning in to an episode of east enders. All these so called fans are now speculating as to Guru's sexuality, and he's lying there in a f*cking hospital bed. Now that makes me angry.
Why is it hip hop fans seem to be pre-occupied with homosexuality, whether it be constantly calling eachother "******" on messaging boards (not here obviously, but in other places it's rife) or saying "no homo" every time they pay someone who's also a guy a compliment. It's so ridiculous, and retrograde, and it really makes us all look incredibly stupid. I just don't get it man. Why are hip hop/ rap fans specifically so insecure? You don't get this chat with rock or house or pop or any other genre of music i can think of. I just don't get it.
I would have thought hip hop fans were a bit better than the heat/enquirer type celebrity bullsh!t that goes on, but by the looks of the comments on that website, we're as bad as the rest of humanity. It's none of our f*cking business. I don't care about Guru's personal life, I just want him to get better. F*ck the rest of that nonsense. It's about the music goddamit...

Posted 16 years ago #I guess people feel like they have to put up a 'tough' persona when listening to hip hop/rap. Who knows. All I know is people talk way too much when they have nothing to say.

Yeah, that sh*t's wack. Say it to his face instead of to a magazine. Those homies probably would get all jelly-legged if they walked into Guru's hospital room. I say start a cypher around Guru's bed and watch... Guru'll blast 'em, and it'll give him enough power to stand up and walk out the room... meanwhile, the wack MCs'll be the ones needing that bed and saline drip.Xellerated said: All I know is people talk way too much when they have nothing to say.
Yeah, dude, I agree... I mean, look at the fool posting essays on this forum... dude, that fool's weak... oh wait...

Posted 16 years ago #You can always count on Sactown to give an insightful comment. You're essays are always appreciated brotha!
On topic though, have you guys noticed a bit of hostility against Premier? I don't know if it is intended or not, but check this out:
http://www.ballerstatus.com/2010/03/04/guru-awakens-from-coma-says-hes-recovering-but-doing-fine/
"I am doing fine and I am recovering. I'm weak though," Guru said. "Solar is the only person who has the accurate info on my situation. Any info from anybody else is false. I appreciate your well wishes and all the love."
Guru's former Gangstarr partner-in-crime, DJ Premier, had been previously giving the public updates about the rapper's condition.
It's unclear if the rapper's disclaimer was aimed toward him, or another person.
Guru and premo have worked together too long to have any beef!!

Posted 16 years ago #WTF?! Check this video out about Guru's family:

Posted 16 years ago #there was an interview I read recently with Guru, that he was basically saying that he only ever worked with Premier as some kind of small thing and they never really got on, whereas apparently Solar is his best ever new homie for real best-ever dj.
Now I don't know, but for sure there has been some disagreement between Guru and Premier. But it's not really known, I mean Premier seems like a stand-up dude...
oh and as for "Why is it hip hop fans seem to be pre-occupied with homosexuality" - I think it's just an indication that most of the ppl posting on online message boards are 1) male 2) 14 years old.

Yeah, either that, or they have the mentality of a 14 year old. *sigh*
Seriously, the internet can be a wonderful tool (see http://www.putsonline.co.uk), but the way it's given power to bitter/angry/trolling article commentors and message posters is freaky-deaky. I mean, everyone's always had a voice before, but the way that people accept what other people say as FACT is something that just blows my mind. (Oh, and Obama is an alien mushroom that was sent here to gather us all as food for his muslim home planet. I know 'cause my friend's neighbor's babysitter also babysat sasha and malia and saw the whole family pull their faces off and praise Allah.)
Back to the subject, Guru: you just get better, you can deal with all this afterward. I don't even care if there is some kind of issue among him and his cousin and Solar and Premier. The man's health comes first, always. Life over beef, everytime. -
Posted 16 years ago #Dudes, there is something really fishy about this. Guru's nephew has some videos explaining how f*cked up this is. Solar signed as Guru's brother, and his wife signed as Guru's sister, and they make decisions on behalf of him.
I got this link straight from DJ Premier's blog/twitter.
