Man! i hate not being able to watch anything at work, even though i should be working! lol. Who is Sharon Jones? i have never heard of her! if any of you guys have any more ladies that are good, soulful, chill, just some good ass singing.. let me know!!

She has an incredibly powerful voice, and can reach some incredible heights.
Really funky/soulful sound, takes you right back to the 60s-70s, good stuff

Definitely worth checking out, they're really good, in my humble opinion.

check out derek trucks and susan tedeschi...they are married and do alot of collab's....her solo stuff is not bad either...she has an amazing voice..
...ive seen them live a bunch of times over the years...and i cna say that they are one of the best acts ive ever seen....derek is one of the best slide guitar players in the world, and seing the chemistry derek and susan have on stage is incredible. Its like they are making love with their music...i think that describes it well! They also perform with a full horn section, etc...making for a great show, amazing atmosphere...with eveyone dancing and whatnot.
...also that group i saw last weekend with zelda loth....dark time sunshine was pretty dope....the woman in the group had such an amazing voice!! -

also u can just check out some of derek trucks band,..doesnt have susan, but some really good stuff...here are a few links...its not hip hop, but good music is good music ya kno

Posts: 1,874Posted 16 years ago #Boombip and all others looking for some soulful ladies, check out Alice Russell, she did a lot of work with Quantic Soul Orchestra. My favorite song of hers is Pushin On. Tis a beast of a tune.
