dope! Turfbuilders has the same outro as Suite For Any Major Dude from the Pass The 40 12"...

I was thinking earlier that A Westward Coast reminded me of that release too. Great era of the P, can't wait to hear more from the Stepfather sessions!!

I noticed that too. It's a slick bonus beat, esp. the way it reverbs out like that.

judging from the mp3 download, looks like it's gonna be 12 tracks total.

I guess Thes and KK have already decided the tracks unless he's still open to requests?

Not sure, but I keep rackin' my brain for other things to request... can't think of anything. I have a bootlegged version of KK's original "Enjoy" demo which has some funny-ass lyrics, but I'd rather hear stuff I don't have in any format.

Enjoy needs the vinyl treatment too. Fun DMC 2lp is missing some serious heaters.

    Track 4.
    Nobody Cares

This track was recorded in 2008-2009 in between Fun DMC and Carried Away. Because of potential sample issues and the heaviness of the topic it was filed away, only to see light again for this compilation after being relegated to a lost hard drive. Nevertheless, even at time of writing, this was a melancholy song that attempted to touch both ideas of social/geographical displacement and the tldr/cool story bro culture we live in.

It's worth noting that since this was written, downtown LA has kicked it's redevelopment into high gear and it is with no irony that there is now, actually a Whole Foods in downtown LA as per Thes One's first verse...

great track, but that Beck sample seriously leaves me hanging for the hook...

not sure if you guys are Beck fans at all, the album that one came off is a doozey.

It's hilarious that you say this, actually, because I feel the same way. I'm diggin' the track and the lyrics, and it's a great beat, but knowing the sample source jacks my head up a bit. "Dude, just say 'Maybe I'm looooost'!!"

And Sea Change is one of my Top 10 albums; I like it way better than even this recent one that got the Grammy. I didn't come from a hip hop background initially (more rock/funk/soul), so when they sample from my favorite albums by Beck or Radiohead or Nirvana (kinda) or Stevie Wonder or Stereolab, I'm always pumpin' the fist that much more.

i've been a huge beck fan since Mellow Gold.

always amazed at how new and different every album he puts out is.

hard to pick a favorite, but i'd prob have to go with The Information... such choice basslines.

(i think he played pretty much all the instruments on that one too)

I'm an old school beck fan too. He's so diverse and creative with his music writing and playing abilities that it's reflected throughout all his albums. It's hard to pick a favorite, but my top 3 albums of his would be (in no particular order) The Information, Odelay and Guero, but I love Sea Change and Mellow Gold too.

These are by far two of my favorite Beck songs.

Beck - Soul Suckin' Jerk (Reject)

    Beck - Corvette Bummer

BTW I meant to say that I got serious hints from Thes at the SF show that the full, uncut first part of Ste For Reefer may be on AMV2... But as always, DQMOT.

Oh hell yeah I hope they release that as part of AMV2. The track on the 12SP commercial would be great too.

I know it's probably wishful thinking, but I'm REALLY hoping they release the pre-Next Step material they recorded with Smiley at Thes' parents’ house (The Next Step I, Bitchkill, Day In Day Out, Mental Battle, Rockin’ Tonight) and the few songs they recorded without Smiley when he moved back up here to the SF bay area. If not on AMV2, then hopefully it's own release...someday.

    Sigh. Fingers crossed.
