Posts: 3,255Posted 15 years ago #I digitally bought a gang of Bill Withers albums (with the LPs I have, I think I've got his whole discography)... D*mn, my man can sing!!
Also got about 7 or 8 LPs from Fred Wesley & the JBs, Maceo & All the King's Men, Sweet Charles, etc... Those guys are the backbone of funk from the James Brown AND George Clinton sides of the funk coin, so indirectly, they are the great-grandfathers of hip hop... can't stop listening to it all.

Posts: 3,255Posted 15 years ago #It's a Friday, so I thought I'd switch to stand-up comedy on the iPod.... so I'm getting this bizarre mix of Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Paul Mooney, Richard Pryor, Doug Stanhope, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Henry Rollins, & Redd Foxx... it's been fun, but my face is starting to hurt.
Oh yeah, and I've listened to "Surgeon General" two or three times today too... Does anyone ever feel like me: you worry about listening to a new song/album too much when you first get it because you may burn out too quickly on it? That keeps me from repeating it over and over and over... but I want to.

Havent had alot of time for music these past few weeks, mainly listening to whatevers been on radio 1 or 2, or worse, commercial radio stations!!!! My dad did put me onto this album tho, Hugh Laurie of Blackadder and House fame gone and done a blues/jazz/rock & roll album?! I couldnt believe it at 1st but gave it a try and im digging it... in the only way a white boy can, dancing stupidly, lol.

Posts: 584Posted 15 years ago #Wow some very odd stuff popping up the forum at the moment.....i have to agree with Mambo7891 and this is no diss (well maybe a little one) but the Cher Lloyd.....really.....really.....really?? i caught this track on the radio the other day and i am not sure my ears have recovered...i try and respect everyones music taste and Adebisi had a gem there with JJ track.
Anyway as the tread is what are you listening too....at the moment its Time Machine and a lot of J.Period best of mix tapes (NaS, Roots, BDK etc).
