Posts: 577Posted 7 years ago #Remember, there's several steps to finishing a record(ing):
Creating + recording the music, mastering/fine tuning it and production of the physical release(s) [pressing vinyl, having CDs + cassettes manufactured, getting the music registered with and uploaded to the various digital outlets and streaming services]. I believe the fist two steps have been completed, the final step (see what I did there?
) however isn't entirely within Thes' control.
And not to jinx things, but unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he spent at least some of the time leading up to the official release date at the end of the week on the phone chasing down digital distributor reps in order to ensure they'll have the album ready and available on schedule... Fingers crossed. -

I'm working on the principle that everything has been completed and thes has been chilling before the launch! -

Posts: 300Posted 7 years ago #I thought the post had said the recording was done but they still needed to do the mixing. So the best we could've hoped for was a streaming/itunes release and that was probably a stretch. The last few years they've done #Thanksgiveback for the day after Thanksgiving (shows, sales, releases...etc). I'm guessing that's what they were was shooting for. Still some work left to do. Good news! Thes is out of retirement!

Thes One announced on Instagram that he is retiring and this is his last album as a member of People under the stairs.

This is partially due to the fact that Thes One was running it all himself, I still have no idea why they didn't try to get some sort of manager or a social media consultant contract worker.

Posts: 3,618Posted 7 years ago #Hi ddrt. I wouldn't worry too much. It will come out when it's ready, probably digital only at first. Then vinyl when it is pressed (the vinyl takes a while).
Thes does it all independently, on his own. He could hire someone to help him but really he is the only one to finish mixing and mastering the album. It is partly about money maybe but mostly his high quality expectations. Thes apologised for the delay but said he needed more time to get the final album right. So we gotta wait a little longer, but it should be worth it!
