I DO NOT wish death upon any of you amazing people lol, but I know we have all thought about it. I have and I am just curious as to what song/s would you want played when you are laid to rest?
One i know i want for sure is "moment in time" by The Pharcyde. Its such a short song but i think it has a lot of meaning to it and its beautiful. Because honestly, life IS just a moment in time, the world keeps spinning once your gone ya know?
I know there are more that I want, Ill post em when i really think about them. but ya, im just curious!
As soon as I saw your thread title I knew what it was going to be about...
Yep the world keeps spinning after you've gone and it was spinning before you got here!!
Fry: You can see how I lived before I met you.
Bender: You lived before you met me?!
Fry: Yeah, lots of people did.
Bender: Really?!
Anyway...
I think I my song would have to be...
B.I.B.L.E. by GZA
Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
Life is a test many quest the universe
And through my research, I felt the joy and the hurt
The first shall be last and the last shall be first
The basic instructions before leaving earth
WOW! Glad someone else out there has the same dark thoughts as me. lol. Ive chatted about this a few times and currently its Boards Of Canada:- Peacock Tail, i dont know why, the song jus makes me feel thoughtful n happy and thats how i want people to feel at my funeral. Ive had a few over the years tho, Adagio For Strings, Afro Man: B-Coz i got high, Some happy hardcore, ya know, usual stuff. lol.
I tried to think of some P songs that would work at my funeral anxd i quite like the idea of Reflections being played and maybe schooled in the trade? I think it would work well, not too sombre but not to p!$$ taking.
Yo, weird, when I saw the "what song would you play" I thought, for your funeral...
Refreshing. I thought it was going to be something cheesy like "for your wedding"...
But yeah, I've thought about that too, and landed on Farewell, by Emanon. Amazing tune.
Goodbye, to the hate and disease.
Goodbye, to the lust and the sleaze.
Goodbye, to the animal in me, to this mountain of envy, to this feeling of empty
Farewell, to the lost and confused.
Farewell, to the fountain of youth.
Farewell, to the madness, insanity, to this culture of anarchy, to the lies that they’re handing me.
Goodbye, goodbye is the knife that severs this life from pain and perceived______
Farewell, farewell is the shroud that hovers around __________
So long, to the sobs and the cries.
So long, to the failed attempts and the tries
So long, to the middle of nowhere, to the people who don’t care, where the feelings are so rare.
Until, the sun no longer shines.
Until, happiness I cannot find.
Until, we reach a spirit of mind, our souls are in line, and the deepness of our thoughts combine.
So long, so long is the way, that our _____, and progressing toward a better day,
Until, until there’s a lie, no need to reply, I’m never coming back that’s why…
Such a treat. Makes me feel happy and sad at the same time.
Its unbelievable to think that after millions of years of evolution that we're at a point where we can talk about our own deaths and what piece of music we would play at our funerals.
I wonder if music exsists outside of this...
Everything we've ever known, every person that has ever lived, every animal you've ever seen, every joke that has been told, every song that has been sung, every book that has been writtern, every great moment of history has come from this planet.
This one lonely planet has produced so many amazing things.
In these dark days we should not forget that.
Its not from B.I.B.L.E, I was reading the lyrics earlier and I have "...in these days of darkness
Peace to my nephew Marcus" stuck in my head... everytime I hear that I have to do the peace sign.
A quick google search suggests its from 'Family Business' by the Fugees?
How was that for you sweetness? Mushrooms are the way to go tho.... natural!
Last time i was trippin i become OBSESSED with this track n video, playin it over n over....
Oh yeah, n when i was thinkin bou funeral songs, i suppose anything by Burial would fit 8-O, n not jus coz of the name....
I jus found this video aswell, i thin k it fits very well, reminds me (as it does to many) walking home after being out all night smoking a doob n chatting sh!t.
I always quite liked the idea that there should be a big Rave or party when I die, funeral's are normally such sad affairs that it would be nice for people to come away from one with a really good feeling.
I always thought "Smack my Bitch Up" would be a good song to get things started!
